Centrist Republicans on Wednesday moved one signature closer to forcing immigration votes on the House floor, but encountered headwinds as some Republicans fretted about the possibility of retribution from leadership. Rep. Erik Paulsen (Minn.) on Wednesday became the latest Republican to add his name to the petition, leaving the centrists just a few signatures short of being able to trigger the votes. But it remains to be seen whether several Republicans who are sympathetic toward the discharge petition will defy leadership and sign on. Some of those lawmakers have told the petition leaders they are concerned about being punished if they back the insurgent effort, according to a Republican aide familiar with the conversations. In Arizona, candidates running for federal, statewide, or legislative office may now collect 100% of their required nomination petition signatures (all candidates) or $5 Qualifying Contributions (publicly-funded candidates only) through the Secretary of State's E-Qual system. E-Qual enables eligible voters to electronically sign petitions or make contributions. The easiest way you can help candidates of your choice is to sign their campaign petition online using the E-Qual system. Start at the Secretary of State's Voter Authentication page. Gubernatorial candidate Ken Bennett: One week from today I will be submitting my petitions to run for Governor of Arizona and it is because of you and your hard work. It is looking really good but we know that Governor Ducey will play every dirty trick in the book to in-validate the signatures so we need more! Can you help me? Ducey is considering a Special Session of the Legislature to pass his STOP plan - this is the plan that seizes guns while a person is being evaluated. He will not do this if he has a Primary Challenger. They are protesting at the Capitol NOW because it is well known that Ducey caves.

Rene Lopez, Chandler City Council Candidate: I’m a big fan of keeping taxes as low as possible. Lower tax rates mean more resources staying in the private sector, which means more resources for small business owners to expand and create jobs. The City of Chandler and its Council have done a terrific job keeping taxes as low as possible for its citizens over the years. In the three years I’ve been on the City Council we cut taxes twice, and we were still able to fund City services and operate them to a high degree of resident satisfaction. With your vote, I will continue advocating for Chandler residents by fighting to keep taxes as low as possible.
