Arizona Corporation Commissioner Andy Tobin has requested the opening of a new docket to investigate the potential role of blockchain technology in Arizona. “Arizona’s Governor, Attorney General, and Legislature have already been leading the country on blockchain policy, and I think Arizona’s energy industry should do the same,” said Tobin. The Arizona Corporation Commission may be the first state public utility commission in the country to open a docket that is dedicated to understanding blockchain technology in the energy sector. Research discovered during Tobin’s work on the Arizona Energy Modernization Plan indicated innovations happening in the energy landscape that warrant the Commission’s attention. According to the Energy Blockchain Network, “The energy industry is entering the age of the Energy Technology Convergence.
