Congrats to former Pima County Republican Chair Bill Beard on his new position as a Campaign Field Rep for the National Rifle Assoc Institute for Legislative Action in Southern Arizona. His Facebook reads: “Life has a funny way of providing opportunities in the least expected ways. After 30 plus years of earning a living in the contracting world I will be stepping into and old and new arena for me. While politics has been a particular passion for many years it's always been something to do after the paying job is done. On Monday I begin a new chapter as a Campaign Field Representative for the National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action in Southern Arizona. For the detractors I would ask you one simple question. Which one of the Constitutional Rights would you also remove from the Bill of Rights. That document and it's amendments are not and never will be an ala Carte menu where you pick and choose. I for one will always stand up and do my part to protect ALL of those Rights. For my friends I look forward to seeing you on the trail to electing folks that are not afraid to protect everyone's Rights.
Yes, Gabby Mercer turned in her resignation as Secretary for the AZGOP, telling the Briefs, “I have submitted my resignation as Secretary of AZ GOP effective immediately. I wonder if AZGOP will let you know. I am just the secretary in name only and I do not see the point of me just wasting my time with the Establishment. I want to be free to openly support/endorse candidates I have personally vetted. We are planning to move to Maricopa County and neither my husband nor I ran for our precinct re-election. Too much going on in our personal lives at the moment, as soon as we move and get settled we will re-consider running for precinct committeemen once again in whichever LD we end up in. Thank you for all your tremendous contribution to the conservative cause and for publishing truth and holding the RINOs accountable!” Editor’s Note: Committeemen can hardly fault her for bailing out considering the way she has been treated by the head shed since she was sworn into office. And looking down the road, who in their right mind would want to step into that position under present conditions? It’s going to be interesting to see where this leads. Yes, AZGOP Treasurer Bob Lettieri, definately remains in the position he was elected to. – ft

Secretary of State candidate Steve Gaynor notes that incumbent SOS Michelle Reagan’s campaign sign at Hwy 60 and Higley Road is missing “authorized by” but does say “Paid for by Vote Reagan 2014” which is a violation of ARS 16-925. He says Arizona deserves better from the Chief Elections Officer of Arizona.
Some Folks Have A Long Memory. This linked Opiate-For-The-Mrs popped up in the Briefs in-box this week as a reminder to Gov Doug Ducey as he is picking a replacement for Sen John McCain, who is suffering from a brain tumor. Rumor has it that Cindy McCain is at the top of Ducey’s “who to pick” list” which isn’t setting well with anti John McCainites.
State Treasurer candidate Kimberly Yee was awarded the 2018 Public Servant Award from the International Leadership Foundation in Washington, D.C.
It Must Have Given Former Maricopa County Republican Chairman Tyler Bowyer great pleasure to announce that Turning Point USA has scheduled an open house between 10 am-3 pm., Fri., Aug 10 at their new Phoenix Headquarters— a 14,000 square foot, state-of-the-art building located at the Arizona Grand Resort, 4940 E Beverly Road Phoenix, AZ 85044 (I-10 Freeway and Baseline Road). We are are dubbing it the equivalent of a “Tech Start-Up HQ” of the Conservative movement, there’s nothing else like it in the country, Bowyer said. “We’re inviting all conservatives in the valley to come check out the new space and learn more about what TPUSA is doing to get our young people into the conservative movement. We will be having special speakers featuring our founder Charlie Kirk and Candace Owens along with refreshments, tours of our departments including the largest grassroots Field Program in the movement, our unique entry to politics campaign operation, our Events Department that holds some of the largest conservative youth conferences in the Nation, our 1,500 sq foot production studio and our Digital department that makes a bigger impact than the RNC and DNC combined.” Editor’s Note: This development must leave the Establishment RINOs gasping for air – especially the ones who did everything possible to make Bowyer’s term as the county chairman miserable. No need to give them any publicity, you all know who they are. - ft
Reports Are Circulating that primary battle lines are forming between LD13 candidates with Obamacare becoming the hot topic. The conservative team of incumbent Darin Mitchell and his running mate Trey Terry were reported to have strongly criticized the liberal Republicans who supported Obama’s 2013 Medicaid expansion during a recent meeting. Joanne Osborne reportedly defended Medicaid, while newly appointed Tim Dunn declined commented. It was noted that Dunn donated money to several Medicaid expansion candidates in 2014. This race will bear watching as the primary gets closer. Photos below: Mitchell; Terry; Osborne and Dunn.

NOTES FROM READERS
Opinions expressed by readers are not necessarily those of the Briefs. Commentary running over 400 words is subject to editing. Briefs posts candidate announcements, but does not endorse candidates, nor do we post endorsement statements. - ft.
Zack Taylor, Chairman of the Santa Cruz County Arizona Republican Committee: For over a decade and during interactions with political figures and candidates I become aware of salient characteristics of candidates that most of the citizenry remain unaware of. As a responsible citizen I believe there are some things the voter needs to know about candidates, in this case Republican Candidates for National Office in the 2018 mid-term elections. Sergio Arellano is running for Congress in Congressional District 3. I have extensive problems with his candidacy and strongly advise that any representation or statement he makes should be thoroughly vetted before being accepted. To run as a Republican, questions related to timely support payments to his two former wives and four children are reasonable. Questions regarding former activities in Santa Cruz County he engaged in where he untruthfully claimed to be the County Republican Chairman or finding voter fraud in Santa Cruz County elections should be based on the record, not his statements. CongresswomanMartha McSally is running for the United States Senate as a Republican to fill retiring Senator Jeff Flake's seat. Her voting history as a Congresswoman is already a matter of record so I will leave that up to the voter to decide upon. However, I do have reliable information from a Precinct Committeewoman and another from a Candidate Forum I attended where McSally was asked why she urged Republicans to vote for Ron Barber a Democrat over Jesse Kelly, a Republican, in the special election to replace Gabrielle Giffords. At the Candidate Forum, I saw and heard. McSally deny she did that, yet, I know the Precinctcommitteewoman quite well and I anticipated the question. I believe thePrecinctcommitteewoman is the one telling the truth. I did not know the other woman that raised the same question.
Scottsdale/Fountain Hills ASRA Chapter President Lynne Breyer: In a recent poll run on the Gubernatorial race, only 39% of likely GOP voters either would or might vote for Gov Doug Ducey for Governor on August 28. Only 26% would definitely vote for Ducey. However, 69% of those polled wanted a "new governor." These were likely GOP voters, not Independents or Democrats. That opens the door for a successful run for Ken Bennett, former President of the Senate and Secretary of State, who has stepped into that void. Bennett has accepted our invitation to be our speaker at our 6:15 pm, Aug 2 meeting in the Mustang Library, Reading Room (90th Street just south of Shea Blvd and just east of the 101 and Shea). Reservations required to assure a seatOther than a short amount of chapter business, the entire time will be devoted to Mr. Bennett and Q&A.If you are an AZRA member, current or former, you are invited and you are encouraged to invite guests. LD23 PCs are welcome. Space is limited. Reservations will be on a first come basis. RSVP: azra.nem.chapter@gmail.com Let's give Gov Ducey a challenge in the primary! Bennett still needs $5 donations to get his Clean Election Funding that amounts to over $800,000. Please go to kenbennett.com People want a competitive race.
Activist Art Olivas: There are 29,537 homeless kids in Arizona public schools! What about homeless kids here at home? Do the bleeding heart liberals and good for nothing RINOs even think about our kids? Hell no, they are to busy fighting for DACA and the rest illegal aliens rights. Our Vets are sleeping under bridges and the river bottom. Some have missing limbs lost while serving our country; but our liberals and good for nothing RINOs in governmet produce nothing but misery for our citizens while championing the rights of all illegal immigrants that comes across the border that they refuse to close. Hear me Republicans and Democrats - the way we are going we will all lose our country. What is coming cares nothing for you or me. They are trying and will take over if you don't start to fight back. Government makes laws for two reasons:1 to control you, 2 to take money from you. They live like kings while we make do.Time to clean the Swamp!!
Activist Boe James: Almost a month and a half after all petitions have been turned in, why doesn't AZ GOP's website (AZGOP.org) have current candidate information? The page listing candidates is reached from the pull down menu under "AZ GOP Directory" and then clicking on "Candidate". The page http://www.az.gop/candidates/ which supposedly show candidates shows only one candidate running for reelection and does not show his opponent. A couple of other examples: The page for Secretary of State lists the wrong opposition to the incumbent, showing two candidates who have dropped out and not showing the one who is still running to oppose the incumbent. The page for State Treasurer fails to list an actual candidate and still lists someone who withdrew months ago. The Corporation Commission page is incomplete skipping a name and not having a hyperlink for another. To get accurate information, one must go to the Secretary of State's page at: https://apps.arizona.vote/electioninfo/elections/2018-primary-election/state/1348/3/0 The AZ GOP leadership should either update their page or take it down and direct people to the Secretary of State's website.
Activist Sergio Arellano: Just checking in to let you know I haven't received any Briefs since 11th of July. I'm sorry you are having website issues! Although it's a pain to have to deal with it, it is indicative of the success and voice you have amongst patriots in Arizona. Keep up the good fight!! Thanks
Former LD13 PC John Powelson: This guy and millions of others have also done this, is it a victimless crime? Millions of Social Security recipients who paid into the program are getting by on a $20 increase in the last 5 years while millions of aliens - who should not even be here are collecting benefits they have no right to collect and this moron judge gives this guy just over 3 years in Club Fed for stealing more than a third of a million dollars, that they know of, from various programs operated by the government. Every dollar should be taken back from California, the sanctuary state, for welcoming these criminal aliens. The known cost of having illegal aliens is about $110 Billion according to figures compiled by FAIR, Federation for American Immigration Reform, The unknown cost to citizens like us is very likely double that paid by various levels of government. Should we give the people that hire illegal aliens in the USA and Arizona a pass. Look at these links and you decide how cheap this labor really is. Often the farmer hire them first but most don’t stay on the farm because they can make more in construction and even more conducting frauds like this. The wall could be 100’ tall and cheap by comparison to the damage done to our country its citizens and legal resident aliens by illegal alien crimes. AAARC Chairman Clyde Bowen: Recently, and periodically I have been asked about running for public office. What an honor! To serve as I have, The AAARC, my country, youth of Arizona. I’ve always said I would think of it. You know me, I’m an “ All In” kind of guy. 100 percent or not at all. BUT, I love to drive! No cruise control for me. 10 over Bowen that’s me. Well if they had said, Serve your community & do 97 in a 55, up to 140, and ( get this), can’t be ticketed?? Wow, that’s a pitch and a half. Defend the Constitution & defy the Police? Swoon. Serve my constituents & drive like a maniac? Joy, Rapture. Such is the case with Proud Paul Mosley, of La Paz County. Zoom, there goes Paul! Seriously, FOUR “ Bowen/Arrows one for each tire! Slow the fudge down! One question, what’s this dude driving. Bet it’s not a smart car! Now, about my perks --Rev Clyde Bowen - Az AMERICAN african Republican Committee
AZRA Chairman Steven Slaton: A funny thing happen at the TRUMPED STORE the other day. As you know The Trumped Store supports our President, opening our doors to all who do the same. People come to our store to talk politics, what is happening in the White Mountains and, in general, the candidates to support for this upcoming election. We have meet and greets for conservative candidates and actively tell folks who we support and WHY! The other day two people came into our store unannounced with their Steve Smith for congress signs. We told them to take Steve Smiths signs out of here that we do not support him, and told them why we support Tiffany Shedd for congress. They started to leave with their Smiths signs under their arms, then stopped at the front door, turned to us and stated that they “do not like President Trump.” How strange is that? Supposed supporters of a Republican candidate expecting us to take their signs and distribute them with no questions asked? And, They Don’t Like The President!
Needless to say, Karen and I exclaimed “What the hell are you doing supporting a candidate in a republican primary and YOU don’t support the President of the United States?’ but you are Smith Supporters!” It gets even better. A few days later, a Vietnam veteran who had never been in before came into the Trumped Store, because of his Trump Hating neighbors. We told him that we kicked them out of our store because they wanted to leave Steve Smith Signs, and that we do not support Steve Smith. He then told us that they two Smith Supporters always tells him that they hate President Trump. This great Vet purchased many items to show his support for the President. So it appears Mr. Smith has Anti-Trumpers working for him. Mr. Smith shouldn’t go to Washington!

#REDforED IS MARXISM
Radical #RedforEd’s leader, Noah Karvelis, attended a symposium in Chicago over the weekend (July 5-8, 2018). It’s title: “Socialism 2018.” No doubt he was there to pick up a few more pointers on how to defraud Arizona voters into believing he actually cares about teachers in particular and Americans in general.
Here are a few of the topics little Noah the Nazi got to choose from:
“Lenin’s State and Revolution.”
“Marxism and Law”
“A World Without Borders? Marxism, Nations and Migration”
“’Right to Work’: What It Is, Where It Came From and How to Defeat It”
“Whose Clinics? Our Clinics! Defending Abortion Rights”
“Marx and the Future Socialist Society”
“Rank-and-File Teachers Speak: How We Organized the Rebellion”
“Marxists, Elections, and the State”
And my personal favorite: “The Importance of Being Unruly.”
The symposium ended on this uplifting note: “Final Rally of Socialism 2018: Another World is Necessary.”
For four days in Democrat-controlled Chicago, all the fun-loving little Trotskyites had the chance to choose from over 100 topics discussing socialism, which is really an euphemism for Marxism, Naziism and Communism. I wonder if they had to show any kind of identification to enter the arena? Gun control was also on the agenda; were any armed guards nearby protecting these anti-American, Second Amendment-hating zealots? (102 people were shot--15 died--in Chicago the weekend prior.)
Leaders of the radical #RedforEd movement in Arizona claimed their efforts were not politically motivated, but we all know little Noah the Nazi and his commie buddies are all liars. Many of the teachers who supported the #RedforEd movement were duped into believing this was only about getting more money for teachers. Those teachers who claim to not be socialists need to divorce themselves from these lunatics or stop pretending and admit that they truly are Marxists--or are they just plain stupid?
#RedforEd is working now to steal money from the rich to give to the “poor” in the form of a ballot initiative this November. It’s nothing more than a liberal effort to redistribute wealth--one of the main tenets of Marxism. They must be stopped. - J. Madison

Congressman Paul Gosar On The House Passage Of H. Res. 990: “The recent misguided call to abolish ICE completely ignores the American people’s demand to secure our border and enforce our immigration laws. ICE performs a key law enforcement function. Without ICE, criminals would cross our border with even more ease. ICE agents successfully seize deadly drugs plaguing our communities, rescue victims from dangerous circumstances, and deport terrorists and other criminals from the United States. I proudly stand with ICE.”

Dr. Kelli Ward presses McSally, Arpaio to agree to primary debate hosted by Fox News. In a letter to AZGOP Chairman Lines, Ward says her opponents "stubbornly refuse" to participate: Renewing her call for primary debates, Ward released a new digital ad calling on her opponents, Martha McSally and Joe Arpaio, to participate in a nationally-televised debate hosted by the Fox News Channel prior to the August 28 Republican primary. "We are sick and tired of scripted, professional politicians," said Ward. "We're looking for leaders who are open, honest, accessible, authentic – and the way we find those leaders is through debates. You deserve to see us standing side by side, discussing the issues, discussing policy, and talking about things that are important to the voters of Arizona." In a letter to AZGOP State Chairman Jonathan Lines on Thursday, Ward urged the chairman to "use all the tools at your disposal to encourage all parties to participate in a statewide or nationally televised debate before the primary election." Ward says that there is time to set up a debate, and to sign a petition letting Martha McSally and Joe Arpaio know that voters demand and deserve debates. Ward’s letter to Lines: With control of Congress on the line in this election, each of us have a responsibility to do all we can to ensure Republicans win the highly competitive open seats for the House of Representatives and U.S. Senate here in Arizona. I know you and all your hard-working colleagues at the Arizona Republican Party are doing everything possible to help our Republican candidates. Unfortunately, Republican primary voters across our state have yet to see the candidates for the open U.S. Senate seat participate in a statewide, televised debate. I'm sure you will agree that debates activate our base, provoke discussion, and help to build momentum and excitement within our party. The Republican candidates for U.S. Senate have been approached repeatedly by Fox News Channel, which is interested in sponsoring and televising a debate nationally. I've accepted their offer, while Martha McSally and Joe Arpaio stubbornly refuse to debate, and consequently they are blocking our party's opportunity to draw national attention to Arizona and our important U.S. Senate race.I hope you will take the opportunity to use all the tools at your disposal to encourage all parties to participate in a statewide or nationally televised debate before the primary election. My campaign team and I stand ready to assist and facilitate an agreement on debates in any way possible.
Tracy Livingston, candidate for Supt of Public Instruction: Over the last year and a half, I have been all over our great state talking and listening to the citizens about the change they want to see in education. Yesterday, I released my pledge as your next Superintendent to show that I will not be a politician. Instead, I will be a servant to the people of Arizona just like I was when I served in our classrooms as a teacher for sixteen years. I know what it takes to lead, and I am the only candidate prepared and ready to do what it takes to fix our broken system. Our number one problem in our state is that no one is holding the districts accountable. I have held back against unions on two school boards and it is my pledge to consistently fight against the union take-over of our education system which is causing low morale and a hostile environment for those that work hard in the classrooms. I have heard from hundreds of teachers and hear is what I hear: “Please help us, we are the good guys” and “Please fight for us and remind the districts to stay out of politics.” The only way I can do this, and win is with your help. Every donation goes to signs and getting my message out. I am the only candidate ready to work for you. Can you please donate today?
CD1 candidate Steve Smith is the prime beneficiary of a new poll released today out of Arizona’s 1st Congressional district. Fielded July 15th - July 16th and facilitated with a mix of interactive voice response polling and live polling, the findings show Smith with 27.2%, Wendy Rogers with 23.2%, Tiffany Shedd with 15%, and an undecided voting population of 34.6%. “Today’s polling indicates that our widespread coalition building, consistent barnstorming, and ability to articulate the Constitutional conservative message is on full display,” responded Smith to news of the poll, adding “This campaign’s outreach is unprecedented and unrelenting. Our base of support remains strong in the South, and we’re constantly creating new inroads in the North. I’m proud to be leading the pack for the Republican nomination, and our team will not stop until the people of this district get the quality representation they deserve in Congress.”
