Meet Republican Wendy Rogers in Globebetween 5-7 pm., Wed., July 25 at Bernard’s Coffee Station & café. Open to the public.

Early Ballots Will Start Arriving In Voters Mail Boxes in a little over a week. In the meantime, voters should be vetting incumbents and candidates to make sure they are consistent in what they singing as they travel from one meeting to the next. Voters need to keep their eyes open for last minute shenanigans/allegations/smear tactics that will pop up to cost good conservative candidates votes. More about that later in the week. - ft

Former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio got a pleasant surprise soon after the “Angel Moms” June 22 visit with President Donald Trump at the White House. Here are a couple of their notes regarding Arpaio: "My name is Kent Terry, brother of U.S Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry who was killed in the line of duty By Illegals armed by previous administration. Sheriff Joe has been there for my family in getting justice and been very supportive...so now I support Sheriff Joe for Senate. God Bless!" - Kent Terry, brother of Brian Terry Brian Terry was murdered in 2010 by an illegal immigrant on the US – Mexico border.

“In our current political environment, with our laws being distorted and ignored, it is foremost in my mind to have a Senator in DC representing AZ who understands what “upholding our laws” means. A man who doesn’t back down, who never sways from what is right, who understands the issues facing our country and stands up for Americans… - Angel Mom Mary Ann Mendoza. Mendoza lost her son, Sgt. Brandon Mendoza, in 2014 after an illegal alien hit him while driving drunk.

Arpaio responded saying, “Hearing these stories first-hand was difficult. Far too often, the victims and those they leave behind are left out of the conversation about fixing our illegal immigration system. The lives lost and the damage done to families is a much more important part of the story and these voices need to be heard. To say the support of these families is humbling is an understatement. I’m terribly saddened about the loss of life and the grief these families have had to endure. I’m honored to have their support and if elected to the U.S. Senate I vow to do everything in my power to secure the border, deport illegal immigrants and protect the people from these dangerous criminals.”

Construction and maintenance crews working on Arizona’s highways are taking precautions to beat the heat with temperatures soaring this week. Having received training on managing the dangers of extreme heat, these workers stay hydrated, have sun protection, monitor themselves and co-workers for signs of heat stress, take regular breaks and schedule work to avoid the hottest parts of the day. While all Arizonans need to prepare for intense heat, it’s especially important for the many ADOT personnel and contractors’ employees working outside every day. More than 1,500 South Mountain Freeway workers have completed a mandatory heat-stress training class, and there have been no reported heat-related illnesses since major construction started last year. That training includes arranging for immediate medical attention if someone appears to be succumbing to the effects of heat.

These strategies used by ADOT can help everyone deal with extreme heat:

   · If possible, start work earlier in the day and finish before the hottest hours of the afternoon.

   · Use a buddy system to watch for early signs of heat illness.

   · Stay hydrated with cool water.

   · Have sun protection including a hat, a light-colored and long-sleeved shirt, and sunscreen.

   · If you lack experience working in the heat, acclimate over several days by taking extra time to rest and stay hydrated.

    · In addition, ADOT has tips for traveling in extreme heat at azdot.gov/extreme-heat.

NOTES FROM READERS

Opinions expressed by readers are not necessarily those of the Briefs. Commentary running over 400 words is subject to editing. Briefs posts candidate announcements, but does not endorse candidates.. - ft.

Diane Anderson, Leisure World Republican Club Chairman: I just said a prayer of thanksgiving that you are back! I hope things go well for you and John. Keep up the good work. We would be lost without this service and your fine, honest editorials.

Tom Morrissey, Past Chairman AZ GOP: Congratulations are in order for Past MCRC Chairman Tyler Bowyer for his huge accomplishment in bringing Turning Point forward to a Point where it has become the most viable recruitment tool for young CONSERVATIVES.  He has brought to the table new thinking that is honest, effective and inspiring because it speaks in a voice totally understood by the younger generation.  And thank you, Tyler for standing against the Establishment and showing us that we, the grassroots, have a path to tomorrow that will not be dominated by "those who know better than we the people".

Political Activist Lolly Hathhorn: “Welcome back Frosty!  Missed having a great Patriot like you giving us the ‘scoop’ on what is going on.  I see that Jonathon Lines is still not doing his job, McNasty is putting his two cents in (why doesn’t he show up for work and do what he is supposed to do) when he should keep his tater trap shut, McFlake doing the usual stupid rhetoric and the left doing what they do best – LIE!  The attacks on people that wear MAGA hats has become unreal.  I wear mine everywhere I go and have people stare at me (especially in NM) but nobody there seems to have the balls to say anything.  I also have had a lot of them come up to me and say that they love President Trump!  The socialist agenda has never worked.  The left is really bonkers on what they are doing.  Good for Repubs!  Let’s have more people waving flags, supporting law enforcement, the 2nd Amendment and our President, Donald J. Trump!  There, I’ve put in my two cents and still call myself a Patriot, God loving and Trump loving American!  God Bless our Country and all its people and may God help us all.

Activist Walter Scott: In response to Kelli Ward’s ad stating that Sheriff Joe Arpaio does not want to debate her, that is simply not true. Sheriff Joe was called by Fox News, and asked if he would participate in the debate. He asked Fox News what his opponents had said. He was told that Martha McSally had not responded. Kelli Ward responded that she would debate ONLY if they would. Joe’s answer, “Call me back when both of my opponents agree to that debate!” He never said he wouldn’t debate, and for Kelli Ward to continue this campaign of misinformation is shameful. The only two reasons a candidate is desperate to debate are 1. They are losing, and 2. They are trying to reinvent who they are. If she will lie about everything, she will be honest about nothing. Why doesn’t anyone ask her why her campaign has open support from GOP County leadership to the exclusion of all other candidates? When we have open support of corrupt behavior, and open support of outright lying, the people of Arizona are the only ones who lose. Isn’t it time we really started winning? Trump’s election has given us the tools we need to do that. Say no to swamp politics, and say yes to American values. “Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.”

Activist Irving Scott: Glad to see the MCRC Briefs back on a daily bases. I think it is important to find out as much as we can on candidates and this article gives a good overview of the ones running in CD1 Will-The-Real-Trump-Candidate-In-CD1-Please-Stand-Up

Activist Zack Taylor: Hmm…not bad until I got to the very last point.  I guess the best way to put it is there can be no forgiveness or redemption until some very serious confession takes place. I have come to know Democrat Communists well enough to believe that is very unlikely.  Mostly because you cannot believe a word they say.  They specialize in reinvention heavily influenced by pathology. See A Story About How American Was Almost Destroyed By Criminals

Art Olivas:Gabby S. Mercer Has submitted her resignation as Secretary of AZ GOP effective immediately. And is coming here to Maricopa county with us. Gabby was our Rock in LD3! To bad John McCain's Lap dogs & RINOs in that part of Az. With the help of every LD Chairman in the state who did nothing to stop Liberal Republican that call themselves conservatives buying their position with their wealth in Tucson. Leaving that part of the state to Rual Grijalva and his buddies Bruce Ash and Jim Click and the rest of their RINOs. If this is not true please send me the proofs so we can corrected!! Would love to hear from you. But we have a fighter answer the challenge and is running for congress against Raul Grijalva and we may as well say against Bruce Ash and Jim Click as they have not done a dam thing to help him.   We need to step and help Sergio Arellano in C3. We asked our firends to help with any amount of money they could spare to make C3 red. If we don’t help sergio we will be siding with the Democrats and their buddies Ash & Click. We need conservatives to come let them know we will fight back we must do what is necessary to keep city and state safe for our wives, children and family. I have given my contribution in person at our LD27 meeting last night. He can work for us but we need to hire him. To help him get elected send your contributions to ARELLANO 190 W. Continental Road, Suite 216-120. Green Valley.Az 85622. Every true republican will thankyou! You can take that to the BANK. Arthur Olivas Jr. Isay what I mean and I mean what I say!! el tudy Mexican Bandit.

Fountain Hills Activist Boe James: Many people living in HOAs say thay cannot place political signs. This information, sent out by the Manager of the HOA I live in, clearly shows that people living in HOAs and Condos can place political signs on their property.  HOA Residents: With the upcoming election and increased installation of political signs within the Community, please be advised of the following pertaining to HOA...Signs are governed by Arizona state statutes. In addition to but not in conflict with the statutes, the association has adopted regulations regarding the placement and manner of display of the signs. At no time may signs be hung on or over the wrought iron view fences or perimeter walls overlooking Common Area or the golf course. Signs may not be hung on gated community kiosk, gates or gatehouses. Signs may not be placed so as to block the view of oncoming traffic or provide a distraction to drivers. The above provision applies to all signs; any signs placed in the Association Common Areas will be removed. If your sign has been removed, please contact manager for pick up. The display of political signs is restricted to the "election period" as determined by Arizona Revised Status 33-1808 (see below). The Community ordinance on political signs also applies to signage during election periods.

ARS 33-1808: "Notwithstanding any provision in the community documents, an association shall not prohibit the indoor or outdoor display of a political sign by an association member on that member's property, except that an association may prohibit the display of political signs earlier than seventy-one days before the day of an election and later than three days after an election day. An association may regulate the size and number of political signs that may be placed on a member's property if the association's regulation is no more restrictive than any applicable city, town or county ordinance that regulates the size and number of political signs on residential property. If the city, town or county in which the property is located does not regulate the size and number of political signs on residential property, the association shall not limit the number of political signs, except that the maximum aggregate total dimensions of all political signs on a member's property shall not exceed nine square feet. For the purposes of this subsection, "political sign" means a sign that attempts to influence the outcome of an election, including supporting or opposing the recall of a public officer or supporting or opposing the circulation of a petition for a ballot measure, question or proposition or the recall of a public officer."

Activist Timothy Schwartz: Trump meets with Putin in Helsinki, and deep state liberal heads explode! President Trump is EXACTLY ON TARGET. This article clearly spells out what they're really afraid of. Light exposes darkness, and they've got a heck of a lot to be worried about! See Paranoia-May-Destroy-Ya-The-Collective-Response-From-The-Co-Conspirators/

Arizona Town Crier Jim Ehl: AZGOP Secretary Gabby S. Mercer has submitted resignation as Secretary of AZ GOP effective immediately.Gabby says, “I am just the secretary in name only and I do not see the point of me just wasting my time with the Establishment.”  Does that clarify anything??  Does any of that make sense??  The secretary position in the AZGOP is an ‘elected’ position with a position description that makes the position responsible to the voters!  Where the position description says, “and perform such other functions as may be incidental to the office or assigned by the state chairman.” Note it qualified that by saying, “ as may be incidental to the office.’'  The duty of the secretary is “ 2. Secretary The secretary shall keep minutes of all state committee and executive committee meetings, transmit all calls for the meetings, and perform such other functions as may be incidental to the office or assigned by the state chairman. He/she shall be responsible to preserve all permanent records of the state committee and relinquish them to his/her successor.”  There are  couple other things spelled out for the secretary in her in the AZGOP bylaws such as the responsibility spelled out in amending the bylaws.  The question, has she competently done that? Now put 2 and 2 together.  How could a competent chair of the AZGOP allowed this to happen?  With the autocratic AZGOP bylaws and most of the County Chair not giving a damn, leaves it open for the state chair to have it his way or the highway.  So, it appears to Gabby, it is the highway!  Oh, there has been other issues with the AZGOP leadership noted and glossed over.  The RINOs and laid back state committeemen  have their day and we conservatives are looking more and more as to becoming ‘Independents’!

Keep The Good; Throw Out The Bad

More recommendations for the Arizona primary elections: Congress The Congressional races are interesting this round. Three are slam dunks to return Republican incumbents: District 4 Paul Gosar, District 5 Andy Biggs, and District 6 David Schweikert, are easy calls. All three are doing very respectable to excellent jobs representing not only their respective districts, but also Arizona and the nation as a whole. In particular, freshman Mr. Biggs has become a go-to guy for the media and his Judiciary Committee assignment has given him many opportunities to excel in public. The three incumbent Democrats: District 1 Tom O’Halleran, District 3 Raul Grijalva, and District 7 Ruben Gallego, all need to go.

O’Halleran, an on-again, off-again, on-again Democrat, is a retired cop from Chicago (now there’s a ringing endorsement for starters). He was a RINO when he served in the Arizona legislature and then ran as a Democrat for Congress. Having no backbone is not a reason to continue to serve in Congress (although it works for many others, we don’t need it from Arizona).

Gallego, a former Marine (in this case, yes, a former Marine) has been nothing short of embarrassing with his nonsensical diatribes in support of open borders and all things illegal alien. He is surpassed only by Mr. Grijalva in embarrassment. Mr. Grijalva needs to retire so he can continue to privately enjoy drinking himself into oblivion.

Democrat State Senator Catherine Miranda is head and shoulders above Mr. Gallego to represent District 7 (and many others in Arizona). Joshua Garcia may be an up and coming star in the Democratic Party. It would be a great start for him to upset Mr. Grijalva in District 3 and do us all a favor.

On the Republican side in District 1, State Senator Steve Smith is the best candidate to support American ideals and to beat the Democrat incumbent. Wendy Rogers has tried before and did not make a credible showing. But either one is better by far than the current occupant (O‘Halleran).

In the District 2 Republican race to replace Martha McSally, two candidates stand out: Lea Marquez Peterson and Daniel Romero Morales Jr. Both have impressive bios and either one would be a credible member of Congress and keep District 2 in Republican hands. On the Democratic side in District 2, there are three well-known candidates: former Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick and former State Representatives Matt Heinz and Bruce Wheeler. If a Democrat has to win, Kirkpatrick would be the better choice (she would do the least harm), but not much better than Heinz. Wheeler would probably be the easiest to beat.

In the District 3 Republican race, with three relative unknowns, pull the lever for Sergio Arellano, a war veteran active in Republican circles and the community. He would be an ideal replacement for the current occupant (Grijalva), although the liquor industry in DC might not appreciate the fall off in alcohol consumption.

In District 8, Debbie Lesko earlier this year won the seat vacated by Trent Franks, making her the incumbent. She’s being challenged by former Maricopa County School Superintendent Sandra Dowling. Ms. Dowling is more of a true conservative, but Ms. Lesko has incumbency and a large campaign war chest. She’ll be tough to beat. The winner will face Democrat Hiral Tipirneni, who lost to Ms. Lesko in a closer than expected race earlier this year. It shouldn’t be close this time.

District 9 is being vacated by communist Kyrsten Sinema who’s running for the U.S. Senate. The most well-known and experienced of the three Republicans in the primary is Dave Giles who should get the nod for the primary as well as for the general. Former Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton is the sole Democrat hopeful. Rather than being elected to Congress, Stanton should be indicted for laundering $2.4 Million of Phoenix city funds to his buddies at the racist La Raza organization to help in his bid for a DC gig. More on Mr. Stanton in the general. - S. Adams

CANDIDATE COMMENTARY

Editor’s Note: Please keep opinion pieces to 400 words. If extended, they will be subject to editing. Opinions expressed below are not necessarily those of the Briefs. Briefs does not endorse candidates. – ft

LD22 Senate candidate Clair Van Steenwyk: Does the National Popular Vote Threaten U. S. Republic? The Definition of a Republic: A state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch.

Democracy vs. Republic. ... In a republic, a constitution or charter of rights protects certain inalienable rights that cannot be taken away by the government, even if it has been elected by a majority of voters. In a "pure democracy," the majority is not restrained in this way and can impose its will on the minority, which is us..

Popular vs. Electoral Vote: Losing the popular vote means securing less of the national popular vote than the person who received either a majority or a plurality of the vote. ... The presidential elections of 1876, 1888, 2000, and 2016 produced an Electoral College winner who did not receive the most votes in the general election.

Many of the AZ’s Republican Legislators voted for the National Popular Vote, this includes my opponent David Livingston in LD 22, who has clearly stated in a conversation at LD 22 on July 16,2018 when asked about my literature for attendees on his support for the National Popular Vote, PROP 123, EPCOR, that if that was all I had to run on no Problem. His comment about no Problem hopefully will disturb anyone who reads this as it still demonstrates to me his total disregard for the system set up by our Founders to Protect all of us from Majority rule and would take from us the Republican Form of Government we’re guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution, Article 4 Section 4. Please keep in mind that if this was law we’d have had Lying Hillary for our President and if this would have happened what type of Nation would we all be living in today. My opponent listens to a paid lobbyist rather than the LD 22 PC’s who represent the people and do so freely. This to me, along with a good deal of other bad legislation, are the reasons I’m opposing him, and also oppose the re-election or election of any who voted for the National Popular Vote and hope you’ll all check the records of those who voted for it. See Does-The-National-Popular-Vote-Threaten-US-Republic/

Chandler City Council candidate Rene Lopez: I just wanted to share with you my latest ad. It touches on my military service as well as my service to the City of Chandler. This ad is currently running on Facebook and I’d like to keep it up all the way until Election Day on August 28th. If you can help me make this a reality by making a contribution today, I would greatly appreciate it. Even $25 will help me show this ad to approximately 1,000 Chandler voters.I’ve got almost one month to go in my campaign to help keep Chandler one of the safest and best run cities in the U.S with continued fiscal responsibility and balanced growth. Editor’s Note: Briefs temporarially can not post photos or videos.

CD3 candidate Tiffany Shedd: Please join me and some of the most influential women from around the state for a luncheon in support of my campaign for Congress between 11 am-12:30 pm., Wed., Aug 1 at The Henry, 4455 E Camelback Road in Phoenix. I am so thankful to have the support of so many incredible women. I hope you will join us for this afternoon of fun! Please join me and some of the most influential women from around the state for a luncheon in support of my campaign for Congress. I am so thankful to have the support of so many incredible women. I hope you will join us for this afternoon of fun!

CD 1 candidate Wendy Rogers: I am very honored to be on Wendy’s campaign, she is a great candidate who will truly change Washington and do what she said she will do. I’m updating you on the status of our race, in the face of some pretty wild rumors being spread by some of our opposition.

   · Polling. Three separate polls - one conducted by an outside group, and two separate ones internal to our campaign - show Wendy far in the lead ahead of the August 28 primary, and with the best chance of beating Tom O’Halleran in November.

   · Fundraising. Wendy has the most cash on hand and has raised the most out of anyone in the Republican field in a very short period of time.

   · The momentum is clearly with Wendy. Everywhere Wendy goes, flying around this enormous district, she is enjoying packed rooms, as the excitement around her campaign is palpable.

   · Wendy is winning this race. O’Halleran is so scared, he is even making desperate fundraising appeals based on Wendy’s ads - ads that tout Wendy’s support of our President. He knows he is in deep trouble against Wendy, in a district the President carried.

   · Wendy is a perfect fit for this district- a deeply patriotic district should be represented by someone who has worn our nation’s uniform and risked her life for our country and for the freedoms we enjoy.

Right now, we are working hard to keep Wendy’s recent ad - the same one that liberal Tom O’Halleran is so scared of- on the air.Can you help Wendy? We have raised about $11,750 of the $25,000 we need to keep the ad on the air. We also have a goal to gain 100 new donors be July 31st. We need 64 more. Will you be one of them? Can you help us keep the ad on the air and defeat Nancy Pelosi and her friends this November? The key thing is, we need some more help urgently We really need to keep this ad on the air! Your help is most appreciated. Now let’s send Tom O’Halleran and Nancy Pelosi packing! America First. – Wendy’s husband Spence

US Senate candidate Martha McSally:Democrats have taken their extremism to a new level with their calls to abolish ICE, and it's absolutely dangerous and infuriating. ICE, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, was created after 9/11 to stop terrorists from crossing our borders, rescue child victims of exploitation, prevent drugs from entering our country, and enforce immigration laws —and Democrats want to shut it down. Instead of abolishing ICE, I'm focused on abolishing the Democrats radical agenda by defeating them this November. Will you help me abolish their radical agenda? Friend, if Democrats abolish ICE, people are going to die.ICE was established to keep Americans safe after 9/11, and the Left's push to get rid of this vital law enforcement agency highlights their willingness to prioritize political agendas over the American people. It's reckless, it's dangerous, and it's the reason we've got to protect and expand our Senate majority. Democrats continue putting their extreme agenda ahead of Americans, and it's time they're held accountable for it. If you agree, help me defeat the Left's extremism before it further infects our Senate and eviscerates our border security.

ELECTED OFFICIALS COMMENTARY

House passes Paul Gosar’s Bipartisan La Paz County Bill: Gosar, La Paz County Board of Supervisors Chairman Duce Minor, and Colorado River Indian Tribes Chairman Dennis Patch after H.R. 2630 La Paz County Land Conveyance Act passed the House of Representatives by voice vote. The bill would authorize the Secretary of the Interior to convey Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land to La Paz County, Arizona, in order to create economic development opportunities and facilitate renewable electricity generation. “I am thrilled to see the House pass this bipartisan jobs bill that embraces a true all-of-the-above energy strategy. This locally-driven solution will allow for future economic prosperity in a county where new opportunities are few and far between due to the abnormally small presence of private land,” said Gosar. “This legislation is good for the County and allows La Paz to generate new revenues in order to fund important services like education, transportation and law enforcement. H.R. 2630 is good for federal taxpayers and is projected to bring in at least six million dollars. Finally, the renewable solar energy generated as a result of this bill will assist with ensuring a balanced portfolio and will provide power to help meet the electricity demands of the West. I am grateful for the close collaboration among La Paz County officials, tribal governments, legislators on both sides of the aisle and other local stakeholders. I urge the Senate to pass this important legislation, that utilizes a bottom-up approach, in an expeditious manner.”
Minor said, “The Board of Supervisors wishes to thank Congressman Gosar, the bill’s cosponsors and other members of the delegation for their leadership to promote jobs and economic development in La Paz County. H.R. 2630 will help implement our vision to attract new industry, especially solar development to this strategic location to diversify our local economy, create quality jobs and increase the tax base so our rural County can adequately meet the growing needs of all our citizens.”
"Since time immemorial, the Mohave people have lived in what is now La Paz County, and our history is buried beneath the sands and in the rocks. It is time for federal policy to recognize the history of Native people, not try to erase it.  Through this legislation, CRIT and our partners in La Paz County will start to turn the page by ensuring that tribal artifacts found while developing this land are reburied on-site, as called for by our culture. We commend Congressman Gosar for championing this bill and helping forge our partnership with La Paz County.  We also want to thank Congresswoman Sinema, and the bills other cosponsors, for putting good policy ahead of politics and supporting this common sense, non-partisan bill, " said Colorado River Indian Tribes Chairman Dennis Patch.

Congressman Biggs Congratulates New Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs Last night, the U.S. Senate confirmed Robert Wilkie as the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Biggs said: “I congratulate Secretary Wilkie on his confirmation to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs. Under President Trump’s administration and this Congress, significant reforms have been made for our veterans. However, much more is required from this bureaucracy. I hope that Secretary Wilkie’s personal and professional experience with the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs allows our veterans to receive the best care and attention available. I wish him nothing but the best as he assumes this responsibility, and I look forward to working with him on behalf of our nation’s veterans.”

CD9 Congresswoman Debbie Lesko: As your Congresswoman, our national security is one of my top priorities. Keeping our nation and our citizens safe is one of the most important roles of Congress. This week, I introduced my second bill, H.R. 6400, the United States Ports of Entry Threat and Operational Review Act, since being sworn into office just a few months ago. My legislation requires the Department of Homeland Security to analyze our air, land, and sea ports of entry and develop a plan to make them more secure. With more than 300 official ports of entry into the United States, it is important to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities so that we can prevent crimes such as terrorism, human trafficking, child smuggling, and the importation of illegal drugs. Next week, the House Homeland Security Committee, of which I am a member, will consider this important bill. Improving our ports of entry is just one step in securing our border, and I will work hard to ensure this bill becomes law.
