The AZGOP Mandatory meeting is scheduled at 9am., Sat., Jan 23 at the Grace Community Church, 1200 E Southern Ave, Tempe AZ 85282 for all state committeemen - in person or by proxy. Election of officers for the position of First Vice Chairman, Second Vice Chairman, Third Vice Chairman, Assistant Secretary, Assistant Treasurer, Sergeant-At-Arms, and Assistant Sergeant-At-Arms are reportedly scheduled.
At Least 32 Volunteers Are Needed at 6:45 am Sat., Jan 23 to gather petition signatures necessary to take the “Anyone BUT John McCain” resolution and a “Censure AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham” resolution ( See briefs for both full resolutions) to the floor during the AZGOP State Committeeman Mandatory meeting. Petitions will be gathered in the parking lot prior to the opening of the meeting. 320 state committeemen signatures from at least four (4) counties are required to take the resolutions to the floor. The McCain resolution was passed by the Maricopa County precinct committeemen 921-582 ballot vote during their Jan 16 mandatory meeting. The Censure Graham Resolution is specific to the AZGOP Mandatory meeting and was not address during the Maricopa County meeting. For signature forms or more information contact State Committeeman AJ LaFaro, LD18 PC at 480-752-9164 or aj_ml@hotmail.com
MCRC Mandatory Meeting Co-chairmen April Riggins and Dan Grimm: Thank you to all members of the MCRC who came and participated in the 2016 MCRC Mandatory Meeting last Saturday. It was long and difficult, but much was accomplished. Everyone’s patience with such a lengthy meeting is very much appreciated. As the bylaws require each Member-at-Large be elected by a Majority vote of those present in person and by proxy, it took THREE (3) ballots to achieve the election of all FIVE (5). We would also like to recognize and thank the following:
· Helen PurcellAnd Her Staff for their professionalism, patience, and excellent recommendations in solving the problems of multiple ballots to successfully elect all five Members-at-Large.
· Jerry Clingman And The Volunteers (George Ortiz, Dennis, etc.) he recruited for Traffic and Parking. With over 1,000 in attendance in person, the challenges were greater than normal, and his crew handled the problem with aplomb.
· Credentials Team: Cathy Schwanke, Pat Oldroyd, and George Teegarden. If everyone only knew just how much this team does to prepare for this meeting, they would be truly amazed! It starts with downloading the database of PCs with names and addresses and collating by LD, Precinct, Surname, then printing both the Sign-in sheets and the Credentials tags, and finally organizing all of this by LD and Precinct in preparation for the Packet Stuffing.
· Shadow Asgari who chaired a very long Saturday for Packet Stuffing on January 9th, and ALL of the PCs who came out to sort the Material, fold the ballots, and stuff the packets in preparation for the meeting on the following Saturday!
· Darryl Colvert, who generously provided his office for the Packet Stuffing, when the County office proved too small for the task!
· Thanks to all who volunteered to register the PCs in their Legislative Districts and arrived at 6:30 AM to review (mini-training) and credential themselves before the wave hit.
· Gary Johnson (Outgoing Member-at-Large), Tally Committee Chair and all the volunteers, who stood by the voting machines checking credentials and ballots, as they were fed!
· Raymond Jones (LD26 Chair) Chair of the Nominating Committee.
· Daniel Schultz, chair of the Bylaws Committee. Even though the proposed bylaw changes were not voted in this cycle. The revisions provided will be available for review over the coming year, providing plenty of time for the body of PCs to become familiar with the proposed changes, some of which may be re-proposed next year!
· Jim O’Connor (LD23 Chair), Chair of the Rules Committee.
· Eric Morgan (LD22 Chair), Chair of the Resolutions Committee
· Sgt-at-Arms: Barbara Medal and Andrew Costanzo. These two individuals took on the responsibility for ALL of the Site preparation, including Banners, Tables, Credentials delivery, etc.
· Liz Alcorn, who single handedly managed our fund raising efforts selling vendor tables and banners.
· Andrew Costanzo deserves further recognition for his efforts in negotiating and planning the Firearm fund raising prize drawing. (We would once again like to thank Arizona Firearms, in Tempe [1315 W. University Drive, just East of Priest], for their donation of one gun and discount pricing for the other two prizes awarded in the drawing.)
· Mary Fritsche, prepared and published memorials provided in everyone’s packet.
· Joseph Hobbs (Outgoing Member-at-Large) served as Timer, once again.
· Aaron Gidwani assisted throughout the morning identifying and relaying to the dais all of our visiting dignitaries.
· Joe Abate, Parliamentarian, who stayed with us to the bitter end of the Special Meeting.
· Ted Naeckel, Legal Counsel, who also stayed with us to the bitter end of the Special Meeting.
· Diane Ortiz-Parsons for her assistance with Packet Stuffing, C&T Training, Meeting Set-up, and expert advice during the Mandatory and Special Meetings.
· Matthew Eberle (MCRC Secretary) for his assistance in preparation of ballots, the Call Letter, and tallying the Division votes during the Meetings.
· Frosty Taylor for providing such an invaluable service in communicating changes, and error corrections to our PCs prior to the meeting.
PC Don Hesselbrock: Great newsletter Tuesday, Frosty. I read it every day, but this one was exceptional. It will give part-time PC’s much greater insights into the dirt McCain’s puppets are doing to hurt our party.
PC Lynn Breyer: You outdid yourself with your editorial on the meeting on Saturday, the subject of Graham/Bowyer/McCain and how disgusted PCs are over all of this. Journalism at its very best. Thank you again for being you - gutsy and honest - and for all the great things you do for the party and platform conservatives! This party can be the party of Lincoln again if the will to do it is constantly enforced as you did in your editorial comments.
PC Applicant Deborah King: For Those Of You Who Think It Can’t Be Done; Here is number eight US Code 1182, inadmissible aliens. This law was written in 1952. It was passed by a Democrat-controlled Congress, House and Senate, and signedby a Democrat president.
Suspension of entry or imposition of restrictions by president. Whenever the president finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, the president may, by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or non-immigrants or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate."
All of the pundits claiming that what Trump said is dumb, stupid, reckless, dangerous, and/or unconstitutional, need to educate themselves. It is already the law of the land. And it was utilized by Jimmy Carter, no less, in 1979 to keep Iranians out of the United States, but he actually did more. He made all Iranian students already here check in, and then he deported a bunch. Seven thousand were found in violation of their visas, 15,000 Iranians were forced to leave the United States, 1979.
You probably won’t hear of this from our mainstream media, nor from our "Narcissist-in-Chief" ...but those are the facts.
LD17 PC Nancy Chandler: I enjoy getting the Briefs very much to help me keep informed & up to date on Republican happenings here in AZ & across the Nation. Thank you so much for your very important & vital service to our Party!
Former Congressman Frank Riggs: It's quite an edition; I especially like your editorial comments!
PC Art Olivas: I am being asked why I supported Tyler Bowyer at the meeting Saturday, if I thought that Tyler and Raymond Jones ignored me on my bid for MAL. Last Saturday’s meeting was not about me. It was about us as conservatives doing what is Right! Not For The Party!! For we the People. I still believe the Republican Party belongs to us! Not us to the Party! I say what I mean and mean what I say! Art Olivas
Congressman Matt Salmon is holding open office hours between 1:30-3:30 pm, Fri., Jan 22 in his Gilbert office, 207 N Gilbert Road, #209. Limited space. Schedule an appointment at (480) 699-8239.
If You Are A Yuma Republican State Committeeman and will not be able to attend the Jan 23 Annual GOP Mandatory meeting scheduled in Tempe, you can take your proxy to the Jan 21 Colorado River Tea Party meeting, where it can be signed and witnessed by two people and carried to the state meeting. Contact: Sally Kizer 928-210-1219.
LD22 Chairman Eric Morgan: A new movement has surfaced to censure our state chairman at this Saturday's state meeting. I caution all state committeemen to be aware of this pending motion, and be sure you trust the person with whom you send your proxy to vote like you would if you cannot attend. Many of you asked why Maricopa County was so restrictive of who can carry proxies. In years past, people would run around the county to collect dozens (sometimes hundreds) of proxies in order to control the vote. To prevent this, a bylaws change was made making it much more difficult for one person to carry so much voting power. All too often, people granting proxies had little knowledge of what importance his or her vote meant at that particular meeting and the proxy gathers were less than open about their positions going in to the meeting.
The noble purpose of the proxy is to allow those that cannot reasonably attend to still have Their vote cast not to grant another person more voting power. Even with proxies, we are all supposed to get only one vote.
Thankfully, I have not heard any complaints about the LD22 board's push to increase attendance at our meetings and I hope it's because all understand that our push is to get as close to the allowed voting voice for the District as possible. I have always and still do maintain that who carries your proxy is your choice and I ask that you choose carefully.

IMPORTANT: The AZ School Choice organization is reporting that the two very important education related bills scheduled to be heard tomorrow, have been postponed to a future date.
This is bad news for those who had made plans to travel to the capitol to testify in person, but it is good news for those who were planning on responding electronically. Many of you had decided to be players, not spectators, but somehow had not gotten around to responding yet, and this delay will give you a few more days to do so. If you want to participate but are not quite sure how, you may benefit from the tips found at: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zbi0dajbict978f/Activist-Basic-Training.doc?dl=0
Here is a copy of the alert sent out by the AZ School Choice organization: “Common Core Fighters --- I heard from the bill sponsor that HB2056 and HB2088 will not be heard in the House Education Committee tomorrow but will be heard next week on Jan 27th. If you haven't done so already, please contact the Representatives on this committee by phone, e-mail/form letter, submit comments through "Request to Speak" and be present to testify in favor of both of these bills. This gives another week to prepare so let us take full advantage of this time. I included the original message with bill summaries and contact information for you to use. Ralph Terry, The Uncle Of Brian Terry and the President of the Brian Terry Foundation issued the following statement after U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson ruled the Obama administration cannot use executive privilege to keep Operation Fast and Furious records from Congress: “Brian Terry lived a heroic life. Ultimately, he laid down that life defending this Nation and its borders. Brian was murdered by men carrying weapons originating from the Obama administration's Fast & Furious gun running operation. After allowing these guns to walk, the administration then attempted to hide behind executive privilege. This decision is a clear rebuke of that effort and directs the Department of Justice to turn over a portion of these documents to Congress. We are extremely pleased with this ruling and hope that it will pave the way for a more transparent government."
Agent Brian Terry, a member of the U.S. Border Patrol’s elite tactical unit known as BORTAC, was on duty when he was shot to death while tracking members of a suspected drug cartel rip crew on December 14th, 2010 near Rio Rico, AZ. Two semi-automatic assault rifles similar to AK-47’s were found at the murder scene and ultimately traced to the botched gun trafficking investigation known as Operation Fast and Furious. The ATF allowed licensed firearms dealers to sell weapons to illegal straw buyers, in order to track the guns to Mexican drug cartels, but they lost track of the weapons. Congressman Matt Salmon’s response to a District Court ruling rejecting the President’s assertion that “executive privilege” bars Congress’ access to documents about a Department of Justice program that used government agents as straw-man buyers and procured thousands of weapons for Mexican cartels. “The President seems to believe in the concept that ‘executive privilege’ shields his office and his administration from accountability to Congress and the people. When Congress, on behalf of the United States, asks to see what government employees have been doing with their money, ‘No’ isn’t the right answer.
The good news today is that a District Court judge agrees, and has vindicated not only Congress’ search for answers in the disastrous Fast and Furious operation, but also our vote to hold former Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt.
“While I welcome the court’s ruling, it can’t bring back a loyal Border Patrol Agent, Brian Terry, who was killed by weapons bought by federal agents and willingly given to those who mean Americans harm. Rest assured, I will continue to get answers on who was responsible for this disgraceful program.”
Senator John McCain: “I am pleased that the Supreme Court has decided to hear the case regarding President Obama’s executive action on immigration. While this case focuses on the president’s plan to provide work permits to undocumented immigrants living in the United States, it also addresses the fundamental question of whether the action violates the Constitution’s requirement that the president ‘shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed.’ Not only does the president’s executive action ignore the law, but it also sets back important bipartisan efforts to reform our broken immigration system and secure our borders once and for all. After two federal courts acted to block the president’s executive action, I’m confident that the highest court of the land will also rule that this unilateral action cannot stand.”
