The AZGOP Mandatory meeting is scheduled to open at 8:58 am., Sat., Jan 23 at the Grace Community Church, 1200 E Southern Ave, Tempe AZ 85282 for all state committeemen - in person or by proxy. The agenda includes election of officers for the non-statutory First, Second, and Third Vice Chairmen, Assistant Secretary, Assistant Treasurer, Sergeant-At-Arms, and Assistant Sergeant-At-Arms positions. Concern is surfacing among state committeemen over the lack of a list of candidate nominees in the call letter. Those sending their proxy to the meeting via other committeemen report they have no way of knowing who to designate their votes should be cast for. Briefs has sent an inquiry to Chairman Robert Graham and his top assistants Chad Heywood and Tim Seifert as to (1) why there is no nominee list in the call letter, (2) whether a nominating committee was convened and (3) who the nominating committee chair/members are.
At Least 32 Volunteers Are Needed at 6:30 am (time change from previously announced 6:45 am) Sat., Jan 23 to gather petition signatures necessary to take the “Anyone BUT John McCain” resolution and a “Censure AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham” resolution ( See briefs for both full resolutions) to the floor during the AZGOP State Committeeman Mandatory meeting. Petition signatures will be gathered in the parking lot prior to the 8:58 am opening of the meeting. 320 state committeemen signatures from at least four (4) counties are required for each resolution to take the two proposed resolutions to the floor to a vote.
The resolution against McCain was passed by the Maricopa County precinct committeemen by a 921-582 ballot vote during the Jan 16 Maricopa County GOP mandatory meeting. The Censure Graham Resolution is specific to the Jan 23 AZGOP meeting and was not addressed during the Maricopa County meeting. For signature forms or more information on either of these two resolutions contact LD18 State Committeeman AJ LaFaro at 480-752-9164 or aj_ml@hotmail.com
Give-Me-A-Reason-To-Believe-In-Those-We-Elect Russell rips AZGOP Resolution Committee: “I am as mad as hell and if you are not you are not paying attention.”
LD22 ChairmanEric Morgan has cautioned state committeemen, who cannot attend the state meeting, to be sure they know and trust whoever is carrying their proxy.
Proxy voting was started with the good intention of helping those who couldn’t make it to the meetings due to health, family or other emergency problems. However, there is growing concern that individuals collecting massive amounts of proxies from their precincts can sway elections. A year or so ago, photos circulated the net of GOP activists laden down with numerous ballot credentials collected from those not in attendance.
Former MCRC Chairman A J LaFaro cautions AZGOP state committeemen to be on the alert for individuals who might be recording private conversations at the upcoming meeting in Phoenix. LaFaro reports an individual became “rude and belligerent” when LaFaro requested the individual stop recording a private conversation between himself and Rob Haney, another former MCRC Chairman, during last Saturday’s MCRC Mandatory meeting. MCRC officials have verified receiving reports of alleged “political operatives” standing behind people recording their private conversations. LaFaro recommends that state committeemen immediately report any suspicious activity to Alberto Guitier, AZGOP Sergeant-of-Arms, or the MCSO Sheriff's Deputies on duty.
LD27 State Committeeman Andrew Costanzo To State Committeemen: I have witnessed continued disrespect for our committee and violations of our bylaws by AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham.
Graham failed to follow the Resolute Order of the Committeemen to close the Republican Primary Elections. The AZ Libertarian Party was successful in closing their Primary Elections, yet Graham failed to take action.
Graham committed to fund the Republican Party of Maricopa County's East Valley Office through the 2016 election cycle, yet without any warning payment was stopped. Defunding was alleged retribution for welcoming Presidential candidate Donald Trump by the county committee last summer.
Voter data access, promised by Graham to all PCs, has now been denied. In this critical 2016 election year, a PC must now receive voter data from the AZ GOP, instead of their district or county.
Graham has attempted unwarranted influence at the local level in LD 30. These members of the Maricopa County Republican Committee had issues, but they worked them out - on their own - at the local level. The last thing they needed was added distractions from those outside of their jurisdiction.
The Resolutions and the Nominating Committee for this Saturday's Mandatory Meeting both allegedly failed to comply with the bylaws. It is the privilege of State Committeemen to expect and demand that their Chairman follow the AZ GOP Bylaws.
I urge you to join me in signing the signature petition and voting to censure Chairman
Graham at the AZ GOP Mandatory Meeting. Please become a cosponsor signer prior to the meeting and vote to censure Graham to remind him that he works for us, the State Committeemen, not his establishment and donor class friends.
The censure doesn't remove Graham from office. It simply declares our official dissatisfaction of his continued disrespect and egregious acts. - LD 27 Precinct and State Committeeman Andrew Costanzo
LD25 Chairman Ian MurrayTo Fellow Republicans and State Committeemen: On Saturday a resolution will be introduced to Censure GOP State Chairman Robert Graham. I am opposed to this resolution. This resolution is similar to the resolution introduced at the November MCRC EGC that was designed to undermine Chairman Tyler Bowyer. Just like that resolution, this one has no upside. For those that have issues with Chairman Graham, I urge them to set up a meeting to resolve those differences. We have elections to win and this resolution does nothing to further that goal.
My preference is that this resolution is not introduced, but if it is, I will be voting No. - Ian Murray, Precinct Committeeman, State Committeeman, Chairman Republican Party of Mesa LD-25 Ian@DesignedForLife.com (602)524-7786.
