Alan Korwin: Obamas-Gun-Control-Starts-With-Myth   If Mr. Obama plans to resurrect John McCain’s 15-year-old proposal for gun-show control, after praising it as worthwhile in his Jan. 5 and Town Hall gun-control speeches, we’re in for a world of hurt. It’s a myth that McCain even proposed a background check—the first in a series of myths we need to explore. The “progressive” left keeps throwing myths in the way of real gun education and safety, and slowing down progress. John McCain’s plan was to force the closing of gun shows, require prior federal approval of anything broadly defined as a gun show, and it goes downhill from there.”

Republican Volunteers Collected Enough Signatures in the cold, dark, early hours of the Jan 23 AZGOP Mandatory meeting to bring two resolutions  -  “Anyone But McCain” and “Censure Chairman Robert Graham” - to the floor for a vote of the assembled state-wide state committeemen. However, Parlimentarian Al Gage,  brought in by Graham,  ruled that the resolutions were “out of order” based on what Gage read to the crowd from Roberts Rules of Order.

Reports are surfacing today that Gage failed to mention the Roberts Rules footnote that reads: It is also possible to adopt a motion of censure without formal disciplinary procedures.”See  azra2016.com   click AZGOG2 drop box.

Gabby Saucedo Mercer: I just wanted to thank the 565 Conservative State Committeemen who voted for me to be re-elected for 2nd Vice Chair of the Arizona Republican Party. I will continue to keep an eye on the things that go on behind closed doors, because you all deserve to know what is going on. Thank you for trusting me!

AAARC Chairman Rev Clyde Bowen: The Arizona American African Republican Committee congratulates our First Vice Chairman Dr C.T. Wright on winning the Prestigious Barry Goldwater Award at the AZGOP Chairman’s Award Dinner.  And as President of the Fountain Hills Republican Club which won the hotly contested Best Club. C.T., a Former Dr Rev Martin Luther King Jr. Award winner, You are the Man!

Maricopa County Community College Board member Johanna Haver has riled Arizona Republican Assembly (AzRA) officials by failing to back fellow Republican board member John Heep in his bid for the PCCC Board chairmanship.  Instead she nominated and voted for for Dem Alfredo Gutierrez for the position. An AzRA press release refers to her as a RINO and calls for rescinding her voting rights as a LD1l5  precinct committeeman for violations of the Maricopa County Republican Committee bylaws. Peter Lee – West Valley GOP Office Manager: The Republican primaries and caucuses are rapidly approaching and the debate schedule is firming up. Time to be determined, but figure on main debates starting around 7 PM Arizona time. Currently scheduled Republican debates are:

·       Saturday February 6
·       Saturday February 13
·       Thursday February 25
·       Thursday March 10
We would like to continue to hold debate watching parties at the AZ GOP West Valley Office as long as the demand warrants. I believe that the crowds will grow as we get closer to the election.
K Star BBQ is willing to continue food service as long they can sell 20 or more meals. They also can alternate between BBQ and Burgers and Hot Dogs from meeting to meeting with one weeks’ notice.
We will need to have RSVPs including menu choices no less than five days before each debate. Please RSVP to Ted Farmer trf85373@gmail.com as soon as possible.
We are planning BBQ for the January 28 meeting. I will have the alternate menu available at the debate on the 28th. We can decide at that time if we want to rotate.  Contact: Peter Lee mdcyclist@live.com
AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham has drawn a lot of flack for his shenanigans as the party chairman, but he did something really nice Friday evening that deserves recognition. During the Chairman’s Award’s banquet, Graham heaped praises on LD24 Secretary Carole Joyce for her numerous years of service to the party and surprised her with the coveted “Lifetime Achievement Award.” To add to her surprise, he had Joyce’s son fly in from California for the presentation. “She earned it,” he said this afternoon.
Maricopa County Republican Committee Chairman Tyler Bowyer has announced that an election will be held during the Feb 3, 2016  Executive Guidance Committee (EGC) meeting to fill the vacancies of former First Vice Chair Jen White and former Second Vice Chairman Aaron Borders - who were removed from their positions via a ballot vote cast by Maricopa County precinct committeemen during the Jan 16 Maricopa County Republican Mandatory meeting.  Borders was removed by a vote of 1070 to 640.  White was voted out 1083 to 692.
Bowyer said vice chairmen candidates must be precinct committeemen residing within Maricopa County. Any Maricopa County precinct committeeman/woman wishing to be placed on the ballot for either position should contact Bowyer at tyler@maricopacountygop.com and cc the County Secretary Matt Eberle at matt@maricopacountygop.com as soon as possible.  Nominations will also be accepted from the floor during the Feb 3 meeting.  For more information contact Bowyer at tyler@maricopacountygop.com.
