Arrowhead Republican Women’s Club MemberJanet Heintz, left, and former Gov Jan Brewer pose with Heintz’s quilt that has garnered national awards.
Jan Henitz won competitions in two states with her patriotic quilt – the first quilt she ever made. The quilt consists of hand-embroidered blocks of all the Presidents and some vice presidents who have served as leaders of this great nation. Last week the beautiful quilt hung behind the podium at the ARW meeting where former Gov Jan Brewer made a presentation on her political life from local PTA activist to Governor of Arizona to her current work for President Donald J Trump. When asked how Heintz happened to take on such a project, Heintz replied, “ I was a member of a women’s church group and we were given a challenge to design/create an article such as a pillow top, table runner, quilt block, etc. using the bicentennial theme. I decided to make one quilt block to be added to a group of blocks made by several other women. However, once I started researching and getting ideas for my block, and based on the materials I found, the presidential quilt begin to take shape. I worked frantically for nine months in order to complete the project in time to enter it into the Arizona State Fair in 1976. I pieced the blocks together by machine. The embroidery, quilting, and everything else was done completely by hand. The quilt was awarded the “Grand prize.” Her competition didn’t stop there. She continued, “I grew up in Idaho, so a year later, I entered it into the Eastern Idaho State Fair where it again took first place and the “Best of Show” awards. I have displayed it at various organizational meetings and hope to continue doing that.” - ft

There Have Been Some Troubling Social Media Posts announcing plans to disrupt the Brian Terry Foundation Courage Awards & Benefit Dinner on Sat, Nov 18th, 2017, at the J.W. Marriott Starr Pass Resort and Spa in Tucson, according to the Brian Terry Foundation. The protests appear to be rooted in opposition to the event’s keynote speaker, Stephen K. Bannon, a former advisor to President Trump. The threats to disrupt the event are unfortunate given the fact that the purpose of this event is to honor a Border Patrol agent who lost his life in the line of duty and to provide financial assistance to the families of fallen Border Patrol agents. Brian Terry’s family is respectfully asking protestors to refrain and give the Foundation the opportunity to carry on its work through this event. Because of threatened protests, the hotel hosting the event is charging the Foundation an additional $3,000 for security. That's unfortunate because that money that could have been used for the Foundation's charitable efforts. Robert Heyer, Brian’s cousin and the Chairman of the Brian Terry Foundation said, “The foundation has a proud tradition of supporting the families of fallen Border Patrol agents. Our event has a proud tradition of bringing together people of all political persuasions to achieve this task. It is in the spirit of compassion and bipartisanship that we ask potential protestors to set aside divisiveness and vitriol and allow us the space needed to carry on our mission.” Brian’s sister, Kelly Terry-Willis said, “While I respect someone’s right to demonstrate I am pleading with potential protestors. Don’t dishonor my brother’s memory. No matter what your political persuasion, I think we can all agree that when people from both sides of the political aisle come together to support fallen Border Patrol agents, that’s something worthy of praise not protest.” The program will be hosted by FOX News Channel correspondent William La Jeunesse. Yesterday, Vice President Mike Pence participated in the Wall Street Journal CEO Council gathering in Washington, D.C. The Vice President took questions regarding the Unified Framework for Tax Reform that is designed to ensure that all Americans are treated fairly, workers are able to keep more of their hard-earned money, and companies are incentivized to bring jobs back to the United States. By eliminating loopholes that disproportionately benefit the wealthy, promoting an attractive economic climate in the United States, and reducing the complexity of our current tax code, this “America First” tax reform plan will propel our Nation towards historic economic growth. "This is a gathering of leaders of consequence. It’s amazing to think that companies gathered here represent $2.5 trillion in annual revenue and millions of jobs across the United States of America. So we thank you for your leadership. We thank you for your investment in America and your belief in America’s future. We know that communities large and small, across this country, depend on the companies that are represented here and the decisions you make each and every day." Pence said. Rose Sperry, CD4 Member at Large, in response to Joe Neglia and Marianne Ferrari’s posts: Hey, PC’s from Maricopa and surrounding counties. Don’t despair, you’re not alone. The purging of conservative PC’s has now reached the shores of our Yavapai County Republican Committee! In August, our Chairman submitted three names to replace State Committeemen who had stepped down or changed their place of residence. Amazing what happened next. Chairman Lines disregarded that list and appointed three of his own choosing. One of those appointed graciously declined and chose to respect the bylaws of our Committee which state that the person/s with the next highest votes will be submitted to fill any vacancies. Our Chairman has repeatedly asked Chairman Lines to respect our choice. All to no avail. Here’s the kicker, the three persons next in line and whose names our Chairman submitted are all staunch conservatives! Does anybody want to take a guess why Lines appointed different ones? But wait a minute, our Chairman has since submitted or will be submitting three more conservatives, with a possibility of another one. Now we’ll have a total of 6 possibly 7 conservatives waiting to be appointed by Lines. What happens in January, if Lines never confirms these appointments? Will Yavapai County Republican Committee and other committees stand by while we attend the meeting in January underrepresented? I am calling on all Tea Party folks to reassemble like we did in 2010 and take back what rightfully belongs to us and that is the Republican Party!
