Brent Backus has announced his candidacy for a LD13 Senate seat because he is concerned that Arizona is “slowly going in the wrong direction. We need to maintain our liberty and freedom and to exercise the 10th Amendment more.’ He also notes the other candidate, Don Shooter, ‘has some bad baggage he can’t get rid off.” Backus hopes to nullify unconstitutional acts of the federal government. keep the electoral college, opposes on the popular vote, supports school vouchers for all Arizonans who want them, opposes State funding for any entity that provides any type of sanctuary status to illegals, opposes State benefits to illegals and "anchor babies". He hopes to secure water resources for future generations and promote business growth in AZ. He has owned a consulting business and have worked in the private and public sectors for 37 years in environmental management and quality management. He currently works for General Dynamics in Scottsdale. The former BBB arbitrator was a board member for Citizens for America and is the Legislative Outreach staff person for the ArizonaTenthAmendmentCenter that is sponsoring the Dec 15 Bill of Rights Day in Scottsdale. He has supported Conservative candidates since 1980, was a Republican delegate to re-elect President Ronald Reagan, and is currently a member of the National Rifle Association, Arizona Republican Assembly Judicial Watch, Heritage Foundation and AZ Redroots. He and his Connie live in Waddell.
Proposed Election Resolution For AZGOP Mandatory Meeting
Submitted by Bill Beard, CD2 Member at Large:
Whereas Elections are the foundation upon which a representative form of government is built, every action of government reflects the will of the votes on Election Day by the representative they choose or by ratifying the process by which we choose those representatives.
Whereas the Right to Vote is a universal constant, the faith in the result of the voting process is not.
Whereas the security and validity of the voting process is key to maintaining the faith in our course of self-government, the paper ballot cast by a voter in person on Election Day is the best means of determining the true will of the voters. Electronic or other computerized means of voting results in less trust and more confusion about the results of any election. The paper ballot is the only tried and true means for auditing and verifying the will and intent of the voter.
Whereas the Republican Party takes its name from this form of self-governance, it is only natural and right that the Party must maintain the highest levels of security in all voting.
Whereas electronic or paperless voting leaves open the door to tampering and calls into question the results of any election utilizing these other means,
Be it Resolved that the Republican Party shall utilize a system of paper ballots in all elections in the Party process be they internal to the Party structure or external in determining representatives of the Party at all levels. -- Bill Beard PC Pima County #32 CD 2 Member-at-Large, Arizona Republican Party (520) 419-2757

Russell Sias, La Paz Republican County Chair: WE ARE BEING DUPED! PART 1 - Do we all bother to read the bylaws for the Republican Party? We, all of us, should do so once in a while. Even a great while. Today, I will give you some thoughts on how we are being duped. Our bylaws spell out a very precise way of amending the bylaws. They say that (Article 1, section B) “...An amendment to these bylaws may be proposed at any meeting called in accordance with these bylaws. A copy of the proposed amendment together with a statement explaining the purpose to be achieved and the reasons in support thereof shall be mailed to each member by the secretary with thenotice of call for that meeting. A two-thirds vote of the members present in person or by proxy shall be necessary to pass any motion to amend….”
So, all any of us need to do is notify the secretary, in time for them to include, before the “next meeting” the bylaw we want to submit as a change, and the secretary will include our suggestion in the call letter for the next meeting. This is what the bylaw says! NOTHING MORE! Ironically, technically we do not have to be state committeemen, PC’s, or EVEN registered Republicans! Consider this: Russia's Putin could submit a bylaw change to our state party bylaws!
Why has Chairman Jonathan Lines created a bylaws committee? To fix these sorts of problems in our bylaws? Maybe. It would not take a committee to fix something like the above example. All he would have to do is suggest in one of his daily rants about Democrats, that he saw the above example as a problem. Even more simply, HE, personally, could submit his own bylaw change to the Secretary for inclusion into a call letter for the next meeting. He could just follow the existing bylaw, as open and silly as it is; his own fix for most would see as an obvious problem. But, no, he has created a bylaws committee. Why? More on this issue in We are being Duped! Part 2. Stay tuned. Meanwhile, read the bylaws. They are at: http://az.gop/, bottom center of the page
State Committeeman Richard Sperry: "Has the Republican Party gone Crazy? Yes, but it didn’t just happen yesterday, we’ve been in a cold war against each other for quite some time. The founders paid with blood, sweat, and tears to bring us out from under the enslavement of King George lll of Great Britain. Once again we find ourselves at war but this time it’s against homegrown Americans. This war is no different because we are still faced with the reality that it is costing us our Freedom of Speech, Ethics, and Integrity! Having said that, I am actively seeking a Republican candidate with God-given morals to run for the Senate seat in LD6. I’ll be damned if this Veteran who fought in Vietnam and whose Great Grandfather 4 times removed who fought in the Revolutionary War with uncles and aunts who served in all the wars in between, will permit the likes of Sylvia Allen and some of her minions go unchecked. Some of those minions, who by the way were too busy making money to serve one day in the military are now using that money to put an end to the system of government we’ve fought so hard to preserve. Perhaps it’s time for all Veterans to once again take up their banners of freedom and help stamp out these embers of near treasonous acts purported by these Alinsky followers. I too, as my wife before me, stand with Steve Slaton and Karen MacKean. Veterans, are you with me?"
Tom Morrissey, Past Chairman AZ GOP: What is occurring in Navajo County is eerily reminiscent of what the Establishment Ruling Class in the Republican Party is trying to do to President Trump. How dare we the people actually believe that we have the right to the government and leadership we choose through the election process? How dare we assume this, when it flies in the face of the "wisdom" of those who know better? Come on folks, are we going to sit by and allow this tyranny to succeed? I think we are all made of better stuff than to allow this. Or are we?
Maricopa County GOP Chairman Chris Herring regarding the resignation of Congressman Trent Franks.“We thank Congressman Trent Franks for his service to Arizona and Congressional District 8,” said County Chairman Chris Herring. “Congressman Franks was my representative since I moved to Arizona and I respect his decision. We expect a healthy field of Republicans to contend for the seat. We look forward to the voters of District 8 deciding on their new representation.”
Maricopa County GOP Chairman Chris Herring: With all of the talk of Democrat momentum and the importance of the 2018 elections, I want to share with you some of the important elements of our Victory Plan for next November. We are committed to Keeping Maricopa County Red and winning at all levels of the ballot.
Issue Identification in Key Districts: We are working with hundreds of Grassroots activists in key districts to make phone calls, knock on doors and speak with voters in order to learn what matters most to them. It’s vitally important that we understand what is important to our voters and ensure they understand how Republicans are furthering conservative principles.
Continue to Register New Republican Voters: We have been working alongside the AZGOP to register new Republican voters throughout Maricopa County. We’ve made tremendous progress in this area and Republican voter registration far exceeds the Democrats throughout Arizona so far in 2017. Along with registering new voters, we are working to activate the lower propensity GOP voters and get them on the Permanent Early Voter List, which will help increase turnout for 2018.
Focus on the Middle of the Ballot: As we have mentioned earlier, all politics are local. The AZGOP is charged with ensuring we win across the board at the top of the ticket. We are focused on providing support to our legislative and municipal and school board elections. While the top of the ticket gets a lot of news coverage and attention, we can’t neglect the vital offices down the ballot. These important elected offices write our Arizona statutes, city ordinances, and decide how our tax dollars are spent. We’re working hard to ensure that these positions are filled with Republicans!
We are confident in our strategy and we’re looking forward to ensuring we are able to continue to support the President and Governor’s agenda and maintain a legislative majority. The best plans only work when executed, so we will need your help in 2018!
Maricopa county Republican Committee Chairman Chris Herring: If you haven’t already heard, last week the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors voted on proposals by County Recorder Adrian Fontes. This was a meeting and decision we have been eagerly awaiting and carefully watching. For months leading up to this meeting we heard from literally hundreds of voters and activists concerned with the Recorder’s proposals. We regularly met with members of the Board of Supervisors and shared your concerns, urging them to take appropriate action. We’d like to thank the members of the board who voted against many of Recorder Fontes’ proposals that we felt were detrimental and unnecessary. They heard our concerns and made sure that only changes that were needed for the immediate election cycle were made. Here is the link to the map where you can view the changes. As you will note the vast majority of precincts will stay as they are. There are a few Legislative Districts that will see one or two changes, and only three LDs will see just a few more. All in all, we are satisfied with what was approved by our Supervisors. Your Maricopa County GOP leadership team is continuing to work with members of the Board of Supervisors. We will continue to meet with them regularly and hope to have new information to share with you in January about further steps to protect our elections processes in Maricopa County.
Team Ducey: Arizona public schools are helping students make real educational gains. A recent New York Times article analyzed school districts across the country to determine whose students were learning the most between 3rd and 8th grades. They found students in the three of the top20 public school districts in the nation are in Arizona. Chandler, Peoria, and Washington Elementary School Districts are showing more than 5 years' educational growth between 3rd and 8th grades, with #2 ranked Chandler students gaining nearly six years of learning in 5 years' time. We're making real, measurable progress in education, closing gaps and bringing students up to grade level. see how your district stacks up There's still plenty of work to do improving our Arizona schools, and Governor Ducey is committed to doing it. But things are moving in the right direction for our students, parents, teachers, and principals to ensure that every child has the opportunity for an excellent public education in our state.
Warren Woodward of Sedona: Last October the Arizona Court of Appeals ruled that the Superior Court judge in my public records case against the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) had erred by giving me unredacted documents and then telling me I had to ask his permission in order to share them. That's called prior restraint of freedom of speech, and it's a big 1st Amendment no-no. The Court of Appeals also "remanded" my case back to the Superior Court, instructing the Superior Court judge to decide whether the ACC had kept public records from me (which is a felony offense). But the Superior Court judge had made so many mistakes already that I thought it best to move for a change of judge. By law, I was entitled to a change of judge simply by asking. In other words, in this circumstance I did not have to give any reasons, a change of judge was mine by right.
True to form, the Superior Court judge made another mistake by denying me my right to a change of judge. So last month I filed a "Special Action" in the Court of Appeals appealing the Superior Court judge's decision. The ACC then filed a Response brief in favor of the Superior Court judge's decision. True to form, in addition to being wrong on all their points, the ACC made stuff up.
I learned years ago that with the ACC you have to check all their footnotes because they will footnote to something as though it supports their position, but if you go to the trouble of actually following the footnote to whatever is being referenced and read that, you find that the ACC is just fabricating and that what they footnoted to does not support their position at all. Readers interested in the details can read my Reply brief which is attached to this email.
While not commenting on the ACC's transgressions, yesterday the Court of Appeals ruled in my favor and granted me a change of judge. I also have two other cases pending at the Court of Appeals. These are the cases that really need to be won. I appealed the ACC's "smart" meter decision made in the APS rate case, and I appealed that part of the APS rate case decision that forces all new APS customers onto time of use rates for their first 90 days of service. In the interest of "judicial economy," both cases may be consolidated into one case. I am still awaiting a case schedule from the Court of Appeals for those cases.

Grassroots Republicans are urged to sign Archie Dicksion’s Proxy Petition To Curb Proxy Abuse Http://Bit.Ly/2rzg2w8. When signing the petition, you have two choices, total ban or limit to two per person. There has been great concern over the use of proxies the past five or years or more to control elections at both the AZGOP and Maricopa County Republican Mandatory meeting held every January. Complaints have been voiced for several years of “Bell Cows” carrying up to 40 proxies for PC who rarely, if ever attend meetings. Opponents of the excessive use of proxies say the misuse and abuse of proxies has resulted in the cleansing of conservative grassroots Republicans from leadership roles a at the district, county and state level by RINOs or McCainites.

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel issued the following statement on the Trump administration's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel: "Today, President Trump fulfilled his promise to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, which reflects America’s steadfast commitment to its closest ally in the Middle East," said McDaniel. "This decision follows legislation passed by Congress in 1995, which also directed relocation of the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. As the president said today, he is committed to achieving a lasting peace agreement between Israel and Palestine."
The Number Of People caught trying to sneak into the United States illegally hit a historic low after took office but has steadily increased since May, according to a report released Tuesday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. During the government’s 2017 fiscal year, which ended in October, U.S. border agents made 310,531 arrests, a decline of 24 percent from the previous year and the fewest overall since 1971.Arrests of people living in the United States illegally also surged after Trump’s inauguration, though the president did not manage to rapidly deport or jail "millions" of "criminal aliens" as he pledged to do after winning the presidency.
