REPUBLICAN BRIEFS

AFA Takes AZGOP Chairman Johnathan Lines To The Woodshed for “…one of the most remarkable and bizarre passages in his ‘holier-than-thou’ rants…” AZGOP ‘Party of Inclusion’ Exposed As RINO Party of Exclusion (Once Again)

AZGOP Executive Director Matt Kenney informed the Briefs– shortly after 8 am this morning -   that corrected proxies will be e-mailed to the LD21 precinct committeemen for use in voting in tonight’s LD21 ‘Special Election’ to select three nominees to be forwarded to the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors for selection of a replacement for recently resigned LD21 Senator Debbie Lesko. The proxy (that went out with the AZGOP call letter) errantly states tonight’s election is for the replacement of LD21 Senate Steve Montenegro (who is actually a former LD13 Senator)instead of LD21’s Lesko. The errant proxy carrying Montenegro’s name will be also accepted by the LD21 credentials panel, according to the AZGOP’s legal counsel, Kenney said. Montenegro does NOT reside in LD21; he is a former LD13 Senator, who had announced his candidacy for Secretary of State in the 2018 primary. Upon Congressman Trent Franks recent resignation, Montenegro changed his candidacy from Sec of State to candidacy for appointment to the US House vacancy. The BOS recently appointed LD13’s Sina Kerr to replace Montenegro in the state legislature. Kerr was sworn into office the morning that the AZ Legislative session started. Both Montenegro and Lesko are among over a dozen candidates seeking Franks vacate US House seat.

Questions surfaced about the errant LD21 proxy last night as LD21 PCs wondered whether the wrong senators name on the  proxy could result in invalidation of tonight’s meeting. Kenney said the LD21 ‘special meeting”  is still on for tonight at 6:30 pm., at the in the AZGOP West Valley office,” 10050 W. Bell Road, Suite 50, in Sun City, AZ. When Briefs pointed out that a proxy is a legal document, Kenney said everything on the original proxy is correct… except for carrying the wrong senator’s name .

Ironically, LD13 PCs experienced some confusion in December when two “special elections’ (legislative nominees and LD officer replacement elections) wound up scheduled on the same evening. Acting Chairman Matt King sent out a LD13 call letter dated Nov 17 for a Dec 12 ‘Special meeting” at the Heritage Elementary School in Buckey to elect/replace the LD13 chairman and 2nd vice chairman, who had resigned. On Dec 8, former LD13 Robert Branch alerted King that the day/date didn’t coincide. On Dec 10, King e-mailed LD13 PCs: ATTENTION – December meeting rescheduled! “The December Special Meeting call letter was sent with an error (day of the meeting), which makes the call letter invalid. In order to fully comply with the bylaws, the meeting is being rescheduled. A new call letter will be send out ASAP (no later than 10 days from the new meeting date). I appreciate your understanding and patience as we work through this error.”  LD13 Sen Steve Montenegro  resigned his legislative position on Dec 15. On Dec 18, King sent out a LD13  letter for a Dec 28 ‘special election meetings’ at the Comfort Suites Ballroom in Goodyear. The agendas in that LD13 packet errantly listed both the Legislative nominees election and LD officers elections for 5 pm., Dec 28. The officers election was actually scheduled immediately following the legislative nominees election.

Adding to election/proxy confusions,  Maricopa County Republicans Chairman Chris Herring has posted a new proxy for tomorrow’s MCR Mandatory PC meeting in Phoenix, since  the proxy that went out with the MCR call letter  omitted mention that a proxy carrier MUST be from the same voting precinct as the person for whom the proxy is carried.”  Is it any wonder PCs are shaking their heads and questioning, “Does the right hand know what the left hand is doing???” – ft

NOTES FROM READERS

Editor’s Note: Please keep opinion pieces to 400 words

LD11 Precinct Committeeman Jill Henderson: A few of you are completely clueless about Sheriff Joe jumping into the #AZSen race and you know who you are! History is repeating itself and many of you don't see it or are in blissful ignorance! Like you don't realize so called Republican spoilers were relentless in attacking/sabotaging/splitting the vote against our 2010 candidate against McCain? It happened again in 2016. Candidates claiming they'd drop from the race before the ballots were printed but then didn't and so many of you fell for it! Suckers! We still have McCain due to your sorry asses, was it worth it?!? We are our own worst enemies - will some of you wake up before it's too late? We cannot split the anti-establishment vote for Jeff Flake's vacant seat! This is NOT rocket science people! Kelli Ward and her team has worked their butts off to clear the field of Jeff Flake which was half of the battle but the establishment never gives up which is why Martha McSally is jumping in today. The fact of the matter is that Sheriff Joe lost as Sheriff by 10 points, to a Democrat, in a Red County. He will continue to reign as America's Sheriff and I will always love him for that however his entrance into this race at 85 is nothing more than a win for the establishment unless we all work together to stop it.

LD21 PC Lyle Tuttle (former MCRC Chairman):Mistakes have been made once again. The resignation of Debbie Lesko has resulted in yet another confusing mess, This time in LD-21. Prior to the announcement of a special meeting for LD-21 (Debbie Lesko's District) for the selection (by ELECTED PC'S WITHIN LD-21) of three people whose names will be given to the Maricopa County Supervisors for them to choose of one of those three to complete the term of Debbie Lesko's term of office it seems the phone lines and emails were flowing fast and furiously, laying the groundwork amongst the elite to pre-determine whose names would be selected & tendered to the Supervisors.  Now what remains is the integrity of those who generated & mailed the call letters and sent the call emails. Will they  ignore their mistakes? Time will tell, but one thing is sure: There is a clear trail of written evidence showing exactly when, where and how they failed to follow proper procedures. Will Lines and his staff do the right thing, or will they  do as they wish?

Steve ChucriMaricopa County Board of Supervisor Chair Steve Chucri: Today, I was honored to be elected for a second term as Chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. I will focus on optimizing what we do at the County. My priorities for the year include partnering with Arizona State University on atmospheric research, creating jobs, reducing homelessness, and reducing recidivism. I look forward to serving the citizens of Maricopa County Government as Chairman in 2018.

Activist Randy Miller: First of all, I am happy to announce that Sheriff Mack has submitted more than necessary signatures needed to be on the ballot for Congressional District 8.  He has expressed gratitude to all those volunteers that worked in assisting him in getting signatures. I just want to say, Sheriff Mack worked himself every day and donated his own money and resources for his belief in going to Congress to do his part to fix this country.  That is commitment!  Because of his dedication and believing in us and our freedoms under the constitution I have donated to his campaign and plan to donate an additional $100.   I am asking each of you to please donate if you can.  His fight is now just beginning.  We will be having fund raisers for him soon, the first one being at our next meeting. If anyone is willing and capable of opening their home for Sheriff Mack to come and speak to neighbors, family and friends, please let me know.  Anything is appreciated.  Contact Miller at (623) 866-3544

Activist Francine Romesburg: Mark delMaesto has graciously offered his home for fundraisers and whatever else we may need for CD8 candidate Richard Mack. Mack got around 1500 or so signatures plus we were able to get on online petitions.  Naturally, we are elated about Richard being on the ballot.   Whitney Reynolds is heading up the Richard Mack table at the Maricopa County Republicans mandatory meeting at the Church of The Nations on Sat., Jan 13. Saturday. Reynolds was part of the Kelli Ward campaign. We’ll have T-shirts  buttons and water bottles and other items at the table.  Contact: fr_romesburg@avecconcepts.com

tom morrisseyFormer AZGOP Chair/Author Tom Morrissey: As of today "The Way Of The Shadow Wolves" by Steven Seagal and me is at #223on the Amazon List (Kindle Native American Fiction) of 11,622 books. And it is at #1( Kindle Government Corruption Fiction) on a  list of 1,421 books.  This, despite what appears to be an effort by Amazon to put the book at a disadvantage due to its story content, which apparently, is not in line with their political views."The Way Of The Shadow Wolves" is intended to entertain the reader and happens to be based on what is now turning up in headlines across the media. This is not favorable to the Deep State and to previous presidential administrations.  The book is fiction, which coincidently, is based on facts that are emerging in today's news. It sure looks like the Deep State runs a lot deeper than some might think.

Former U.N. ambassador John Bolton said Thursday it would be a "tragic mistake" for the Trump administration to "turn away the opportunity to put the economic screws" on Iran by continuing to waive sanctions. Bolton said now that protests are roiling Iran, America should seize the opportunity "to get out of the [nuclear] deal completely" and "bring back all of the sanctions that have been suspended as a consequence of the deal."Read More Here

ELECTED OFFICIAL COMMENTS

Paul Gosar 2016Yesterday, Congressional Western Caucus Chairman Paul A. Gosar (AZ-04), Congressman Andy Biggs (AZ-05),and Congressman John Curtis (UT-03) issued statements following the leadership and membership changes in the Caucus. Congressman Biggs will serve as the Caucus' Chief Regulatory Reform Officer for 2018, and Congressman Curtis - the newest Member in the United States House of Representatives - has just joined the Caucus as a member. They issued the following statements: "My good friend Congressman Biggs is establishing himself as a major player around the Capitol," said Gosar. "I am excited to announce that he is coming onboard as the newest member of our Executive Committee. Andy has a passion for liberty and free markets and he is turning that passion into a force for change in Washington. We look forward to working with him to grow and improve the Caucus' influence in order to make progress on land, water and energy issues. Congratulations, Congressman," he said. "I am also proud to welcome the newest Member of the House, Congressman Curtis, into the Caucus fold. Congressman Curtis has an impressive record coming into Congress as the successful, longtime Mayor of the great city of Provo, Utah. With these dynamic leaders onboard, 2018 is shaping up to be the most successful year for the Caucus yet," he concluded.
“I am honored to accept the position of Regulatory Reform Officer of the Congressional Western Caucus," said Biggs. "Chairman Paul Gosar has led the Caucus in a historically effective manner. The Caucus is a strong voice for Westerners who have been burdened by the federal government’s regulatory overreaches. President Trump and members of his Administration have demonstrated that deregulation to achieve economic freedom is a top priority, and they have been incredible allies. In 2017, the administration and the Western Caucus accomplished a lot for hard-working Americans. There is much work to do, though, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to help unleash our economic potential.”

"I am honored to join the Western Caucus and join the fine public servants that represent some of our country’s most diverse and beautiful places. I look forward to working with all members to advance important issues like rural broadband and other common-sense policies to protect the Western way of life,” said Curtis.

Andy BiggsYesterday, Congressman Biggs voted YES on Congressman Amash’s USA Rights Act amendment and NO on the FISA Amendments Reauthorization Act. Congressman Biggs released the following statement: “I was disappointed to see this amendment fail. This legislation would have repealed an unconstitutional search provision within Section 702 by requiring a warrant to access information in the database relating to U.S. persons. Sadly, today was a missed opportunity to defend Americans from both terrorists and privacy invasions.

“I voted against the underlying bill because it does not sufficiently protect Americans’ Fourth Amendment Rights. As we’ve seen with the previous administration, rogue bureaucrats will exploit loopholes in this system and can cause great harm to our constituents. Congress needs to be 100% sure that all legislation we pass adheres to the U.S. Constitution, and unfortunately the FISA reauthorization passed today does not.  I will continue to stand for my constituents’ constitutional rights.”
