Republican Briefs
The AFA Team: John Backer said on MCRC Briefs in his response to emails going around under his email address that "This is neither a recall nor a hoax. It is simply an effort to ascertain the level of support Chairman Lines has."6-11-17-briefs But on their home page of the web address he gave, it says: ' The Committee to Recall AZ GOP Chairman Lines, is preparing to recall Chairman Lines for the following reasons:..."http://recalllines.com/ So we'd like to know, which is it? A recall or a fishing expedition? Editor’s Note: Briefs ask Backer to respond the question. See Backer’s response immediately below. - ft
Recall Lines Spokesman John Backer: Thanks again for reaching out to let me clarify the confusion in my statement compared with the text on the website. Our intention in creating the website and the related email was to measure the amount of support Chairman Lines currently possesses with a recall as the logical conclusion. To ask for opinions without clearly outlining the end purpose would have not been fair to anyone involved; however, until we have a signed petition with enough signatures we do not have a full-fledged recall. We are serious in this endeavor, but unlike our current AZGOP leadership we value the opinions of everyone in our Party, and since we are serious, this effort is not a hoax. Although the results of our data collection are preliminary, currently Chairman Lines is showing 17% support. At a later time, when we gather additional input, we will share the results in a more meaningful, transparent way, while protecting the identities of those who shared their opinions. Finally, since I am not well known across the state, I have added a mission statement and my personal bio on the About Page of the http://RecallLines.com website.

McCain Says American Leadership Was Better Under Obama: Report Sen. John McCain said American leadership was stronger under President Trump's predecessor, President Barack Obama, according to a Guardian report published Sunday. Asked if the country stood on sturdier ground under Obama's leadership, McCain said "yes," according to the report. “As far as American leadership is concerned, yes," said McCain, who also vocally criticized many of the Obama administration's foreign policy decisions. McCain also lost to Obama when he ran as the GOP nominee in the 2008 presidential election.

Arizona Town Crier Jim Ehl: In a volunteer organization, where there are bylaws, chairmen , etc., it is usually given that the elected of that organization represent the will of its membership. And, bylaws are essential to the proper functioning of that organization. The AZ GOP bylaws which can be found on the AZ GOP web page. For those of you who are County Chairmen and State Committeemen please note how autocratic, outdated, ignored, violated, etc. they are and have been over the years. The last time they were updated was years ago. Chairman Lines, to his credit, saw a need to have the AZ GOP bylaws reviewed and updated since there is no standing bylaws committee given in the current AZ GOP bylaws, and such a committee must be appointed. Instead of appointing the leaders of the party - the county chairmen, Lines appointed a person of his liking to chair the Bylaws Committee, approve the selection of committee members and rules of conduct! If he doesn’t like the results he can cancel the committee!! We have no choice but to wait out the results of such a fiasco, but throwing such an important project to the winds when there are unbiased county leaders available to do the job doesn’t appear to be very productive. The bylaws chair clearly stated, “Only purpose local compliance? She asked for local bylaws. This is supposed to a “state” bylaws meeting. Quote from her email: “Keep in mind we are gathered to clarify any ambiguities in the bylaws and be in compliance with the statute.” She established limitations” It seems obvious that there is not much progress in store. Considering AZ GOP leader’s prior actions, some Arizona Town Crier supporters have re-registered as Independents and more will do so depending on the outcome of Lines decisions!
Arizona Town Crier Jim Ehl: A side note. Why was the AzRA formed and what does that organization of 11 chapters have to say about this AZ GOP program, but what’s more important, what does one see where the county chairmen (less Russell Sias) even care??? Editor’s Note: Word has it that newly elected AzRA Chairman Jim O’Connor and his new officers will be leading the way for a far more vibrant, visable AzRA starting in the Fall.
