· I fully oppose this ruling. The shooter's trigger finger is what activates the trigger, whether firing with a bump stock or with one's bare hands. No part of the bump stock touches the trigger, only the shooter's trigger finger. ATF's insistence otherwise is merely playing politics and hurts their credibility.
· I fully oppose this ruling. If the bump stock made a semi-automatic rifle fully automatic, then holding the gun with only the trigger-finger hand while squeezing and holding the trigger should cause the gun to repeatedly fire shots. It doesn't do that and therefore the bump stock has clearly NOT converted a semi-automatic rifle into a machine gun.
· I vehemently oppose this ruling. The National Firearms Act clearly defines a machine gun as "any weapon which shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot, automatically more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger.
First, the proposed ruling is a violation of the principle of separation of powers for an agency of the executive branch to reinterpret the relatively plain language of that definition.
Second, this ruling would establish a terrible precedent that would allow successive reinterpretations that could eventually result in a virtual ban on the private ownership of semi-automatic firearms. In my own lifetime, I have seen a shift from revolvers to semi-automatic pistols as the most common choice of lawfully armed citizens for personal protection and I fully support their right to make such a choice. Similarly, I have seen an increasing preference for semi-automatic rifles for lawful use, including sport and defense of the home. Again, I support the right of law-abiding citizens to make such a choice.
AzCDL Bump Stock Raffle: Whether or not you own a bump stock, or even care to, is not at issue here. The freedom to possess and transfer whatever firearms and parts we choose, without fear of arbitrary changes in "the rules" by unelected bureaucrats, is at the heart of the matter. If they want to change the law, there's a way to do that, and twisting the language to suit the purpose of some clerk in D.C. is not it. In protest of this rogue action by our would-be masters in the swamp, the Arizona Citizens Defense League will be raffling off one Slide Fire SSAR-15 SBS"bump stock". Tickets are $10 each, and the drawing will be held at Noon on Friday, April 20, 2018, according to Chairman Dave Kopp. We are certainly hopeful that the "Justice Department" will receive enough public comments to convince them to alter their current, unreasonable course on this matter, but if not, the winner will be solely responsible for the eventual disposition of his prize. We will only ship the item to where it's legal under federal, state and local law to possess a bump stock. For tickets see
AzCDL's Raffle page.

Former Maricopa County Republican Chairman Rob Haney: As for the current Central American caravan toward the U.S., conservative Catholic Rob Haney, told The Wanderer on April 4: “I cannot fault ignorant aliens from Third World countries for wanting to improve their lives by any means they are permitted to get away with. I can fault our own rulers for allowing the success of a six-decade-old Democrat Party strategy of converting our republic into a one-party socialist dictatorship through the illegal importation of socialist voters. California was a Republican Party stronghold. It is now a failed socialist state. We can acknowledge that Republican Party leaders were complicit through their support of the illegal alien invasion,” Haney said. “I can imagine a future socialist historian heaping praise upon Arizona Republican Senators (John) McCain, (Jon) Kyl and (Jeff) Flake, as well as Republican Cong. (John) Shadegg, for their actions in support of the invasion which brought about the demise of their own party,” he said. (Kyl’s surprise retirement as an Arizona U.S. senator opened the way for Flake to win that seat in 2012.) “In much the same manner,” Haney continued, “the socialist writer will describe how the support of Democrat Party secular issues by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops led to the demise of the Catholic faith.” Neither-US-Nor-Central-Americans-Should-Let-Themselves-Be-Walked-All-Over

The Tax Filing Deadline is a little more than a week away, and the Arizona Game and Fish Department encourages those who haven't yet submitted their returns to help support the state’s wildlife by “making a mark” on their state income tax form. The Arizona Wildlife Fund is a voluntary program that allows Arizona taxpayers to make a donation specifically to help at-risk and endangered wildlife, including Sonoran pronghorn, black-footed ferrets, California condors, Apache trout and Mexican wolves, among other non-game species. “The Arizona Game and Fish Department does not receive any state general fund tax dollars, so any additional funding provided through the Arizona Wildlife Fund helps to support our efforts in managing and conserving some of the state’s most iconic native species,” says Josh Avey, AZGFD Terrestrial Wildlife Branch chief. “The cumulative effect of even a dollar can have a tremendous impact on conserving one of Arizona’s greatest natural treasures – its wildlife.”Since Arizona started the program more than 25 years ago, taxpayers have donated more than $5 million to the conservation of non-game wildlife. In previous years, donations averaged $25, but any amount helps Arizona’s wildlife. The Arizona Wildlife Fund box can be found on line “64” of the Arizona Resident Personal Income Tax Return form 140 or line “33” on the Arizona 140A short form. ELECTED OFFICIALS COMMENTARY
Congressional Western Caucus Chairman Paul A. Gosar in support of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt:Gosar stated, “EPA Administrator Pruitt has proven himself one of the most effective Cabinet Members in the Trump Administration. His track record on energy, the environment, deregulation, the rule of law and science-based decision-making is exceptional. Because he is an important part of the ‘Make America Great Again’ agenda, it should come as no surprise that a lynch mob of opportunistic politicians and certain members of the media are doing everything they can to attempt to remove him from office. The job of a successful agency head should not be called into question due solely to allegations from political opponents when important underlying facts remain unknown. I stand with EPA Administrator Pruitt and am grateful for everything he has done for the American people to get our economy going again.”
Secretary of State Michele Reagan: As anybody who has ever met me knows – small business is why I ran for office in the first place. It is the backbone of our local economy and supports our communities through employment, creativity, support of local youth programs, and so much more. You name it and there is a small business out there that is helping to support it. Owning a small business is hard and the goal throughout my career as a public servant has been to make it easier for them to grow, hire more people, and create more vibrant local economies.I know the difficulties that small business owners face – my family and I have been in those shoes before. My family and I owned a small business, FASTSIGNS, in the Valley. The experience we had with our small business was incredibly gratifying but it was also A LOT of hard work. And as the Secretary of State I believe it is my job to try to get government out of the way of small businesses as much as possible, while also helping to protect their interests and intellectual property.
