Arizona Department of Transportation officers will partner with the Department of Public Safety this week to set up a mobile commercial vehicle inspection site along Interstate 40 at milepost 182, west of Flagstaff to ensure that all commercial vehicles are operating safely and complying with state and federal regulations. The mobile site will be in operation from Tuesday, June 5, through Thursday, June 7. ADOT officers will perform weight enforcement and commercial vehicle inspections during this three-day special detail. The aim of the enforcement detail is to help reduce commercial vehicle crashes along I-40 and other state highways. All commercial vehicles are expected to stop for inspection at the mobile site. Citations will be issued to drivers trying to avoid the inspection station.

LD24 Has Called For A Special Election to fill the corresponding secretary vacancy, according to Chairman Barry Wong. Supt of Public Instruction Diane Douglas has announced that Heather Cruz has been named the Arizona Department of Education’s (ADE’s) new Associate Superintendent of High Academic Standards for Students. “I am excited to work with Dr. Cruz on the continuing development of our state’s academic program areas,” Superintendent Douglas said. “Since our top priority at ADE is putting the students first, Heather will play a vital role in ensuring Arizona is providing a world-class education for our children. Having served as a teacher and principal, as well as a deputy and assistant superintendent for nearly 25 years, Heather’s experience and leadership will prove instrumental at the Department.” Cruz will be charged with overseeing the Office of English Language Acquisition Services (OELAS), Career and Technical Education, Early Childhood, the Migrant Education Program and K-12 Academic Standards. Before earning her doctoral degree in education from Arizona State University (ASU), Cruz received her bachelor’s degree from ASU and her master’s degree from Northern Arizona University. While serving as Litchfield Elementary School District’s Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services, the district was named one of the “Top 10 Districts in Arizona” by ADE in 2011. In addition, as the Deputy Superintendent for Peoria Unified School District, the district improved from having nine “A-rated” schools to 21 in just over five years, including all seven of the comprehensive high schools in the district. Cruz hails from a family of educators, including her sister (Heidi), who worked alongside her at Litchfield Elementary School District. A member of the Arizona School Administrators (ASA) since 1999, she not only served as the organization’s Secretary, but also the President during her tenure. A former opera singer, Cruz enjoys jogging and resides in the Southwest Valley with her husband of 21 years, Brad, and their dog (Daisy) and cat (Mr. Kitty).

Activist Stephen Sivigliano: Everywhere we look, there is life, breathing, inhaling oxygen and/or carbon dioxide, flourishing, metabolizing, struggling to survive and reproduce. "To liberals/democrats/progressives, life exists everywhere on earth, except--in the womb!" To them, it's not life, but protoplasm, clumps of cells, a blob of tissue, or even a tumor. To quote Arnold Schwarzenegger, "it's not a tumah, it's not a tumah"). In Denver, when the cottonwood trees release their seeds, it almost looks like a mini-blizzard. Every life form has its own way of procreating, as do humans. Life is a gift from God, and should not be interfered with. Down With Klanned Parentlesshood!

Tempe Activist Peggy McClain: We have another situation developing quickly in Tempe. On May 17th, there was a presentation at the work study session about a company partnering with ASU coming year's Tempe budget. Their area of expertise is Wastewater Data Analytics. The excuse is to zero in on areas of Tempe where there is high usage of opioids (campaign talking point), marijuana, and alcohol. While it sounds good, where will this stop and what kind of data mining is really going on and what will they do with our personal information? Note the NIH is involved.

While all of us want a healthy community, opioids are a legal drug. Currently, marijuana is legal and the Tempe Council just increased the amount of dispensaries in our city. Alcohol is legal. And there are many other medications we take that are nobody's business, especially the governments. One of the company's representatives said "If interested in a specific region for whatever reason, they can travel up the sewer pipe to put a sampler in a manhole to locate a specific area--a neighborhood, school, or business." Besides the data mining without permission, are there HIPPA violations? If a resident is deemed unhealthy, either physically or mentally, could their guns be taken away? Are we living in Nazi Germany?

These representatives want Tempe to be the lead city in Arizona, so it will be no time before this data mining comes to Phoenix and Tucson.Please, if you see this as a problem, contact Tempe City Council or better yet come to the Council meeting at 6 pm., Thur., June 7 at the city council chambers in Tempe City Hall, 31 East Fifth St., Tempe 85281. We need public comment. Although we just had an election, there will be two more seats up for election so they will be positioning themselves now. Also, our councilman David Schapira is running for Superintendent of Public Instruction as we speak. If he votes for data mining in Tempe's budget, it is likely he will support data mining our children and their parents when they are under his watch.

1. This will not be a line item on the agenda however we will be able to speak on it. They are doing this through the budget approval. The money is going to ASU. One thing which struck me is that although the initial funds have moved forward the official vote has NOT happened, yet here it is already posted on ASU Biodesign Institute front page of the website with a big picture of Mitchell, Kuby and Navarro. The ones that are saying no are Schapira and Granville..

2. They have already extended their reach from opiods to "alcohol, pot and "other harmful substances" What are other harmful substances?

3. By mentioning HIPAA it seems to me they are already admitting they are collecting your medical records as opiods and pot (sometimes) are prescribed. Alcohol is legal.

4. HIPAA is generally associated with hospitals, software applications which operate in healthcare, Elecronic Medical Records software that has to be compliant, insurance, cloud technology...etc...things like that. There is an area for data aggrevation which it appears they may try to put this under.

5. They have not asked our permission to collect our data and we have not signed anything.

6. As Peggy mentioned, I am concerned that they will look for other medications for "mental health" which could be used to take away rights. This is especially concerning since the definition of "mental health" is ever expanding.

7. How will they protect this from public record?

8. While they are saying they can't trace it to an individual, they are tracing to your specific house through those pipes? And, what else will they test for when they expand their technologies.

9. We are paying for them to do this! They have absolutely no right to do without out consent. Seems like the start of a class action lawsuit.This is another conflict of interest for Kuby and Keeting.

Congresswoman Martha McSally: One week from today, President Trump will meet with Kim Jong Un in a historic meeting to discuss the denuclearization of North Korea. Over the Memorial Day weekend, I led a bipartisan congressional delegation, including three Members of Congress from Arizona, to the Korean Peninsula to meet with top military and diplomatic officials about the current situation in the region. We visited the truce village of Panmunjom in the demilitarized zone (DMZ), where the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed in 1953, just a few hours before Kim Jong-un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in met in the same location. As a member of the Armed Services Committee, I led the other representatives to key military outposts on the Korean Peninsula, including:

1. Yongsan Army base, where we met with USFK command team and U.S. embassy leadership; Osan Airbase, home to the 7th Air Force and the 25th Fighter Squadron, which flies the A-10 Warthog;

2. Camp Humphreys, home base for the 8th Army and 2nd Infantry Division operations The delegation also met with the Korean Deputy Defense Minister for Policy, Yeo Suk-joo, to discuss the ongoing threat and efforts toward diplomatic engagement. We discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and collaboration between the United States and South Korea to achieve the complete, verifiable, and irreversible denuclearization of North Korea.

In special commemoration of Memorial Day, we also visited the Korean War Memorial to honor and remember those Americans and Koreans who lost their lives during the Korean War. See brief footage HERE. One Month Ago, Governor Doug Ducey signed his #20x2020 plan. He delivered a 20% pay raise for Arizona teachers by 2020 — without raising taxes. Now more Arizona school districts are announcing raises that go above and beyond what was anticipated, including raises as high as 20% by the start of the fall school year. Highlights from the. 1. “Nearly all of the 46 Arizona school districts tallied by The Arizona Republic that have announced proposals call for giving teachers average raises that are upwards of 10 percent next school year.”

2. “In Washington Elementary School District, for example, a 25-year teacher with a master's degree will make $60,822 in the 2018-19 school year after making $50,412 this year, according to Justin Wing, the district's human resources director. The raise for this level of teacher amounts to just over 20 percent.”

3. “Chuck Essigs, lobbyist for the Arizona Association of School Business Officials and longtime school finance official, said the pay-raise plans that have been announced by districts so far ‘would be the most significant increases that teachers have received in any year that I can remember. And I’m pretty old; I can remember a few years back.’”

4. “School districts are not only delivering on 10 percent teacher raises, most are also giving raises to other employees, such as bus drivers, janitors, nurses, administrators and educators.

Governor Ducey is keeping his promise to increase teacher pay 20% - with many teachers receiving MORE than initially projected. He has made increasing teacher pay and improving the quality of our public schools a top priority. He is getting results WITHOUT raising taxes on hardworking Arizonans. – Team Ducey

Steve Gaynor, Secretary of State candidate: Yesterday I sent a letter to the GOP Legislative District Chairmen asking them to host a series of debates around the state featuring myself and Michele Reagan. With less than 9 weeks until early ballots are mailed, now is the time for Republican leaders to compare the two candidates for Secretary of State and make an informed decision about who should be our nominee for the November election. I believe the Legislative Districts should take the lead in clarifying who is best equipped to represent our party and face the Democrat nominee. From Yuma to Kingman, Bisbee to Chinle, I want to ensure that all our Precinct Committeemen, the most influential GOP leaders in our communities, have an opportunity to “kick the tires.” I believe having the LDs oversee these debates is the best way to give every committee-person an opportunity to judge for themselves who they think is best.

With Democrats energized and out of state leftists dumping money into our state, it is more critical than ever that our Party field the best possible candidates. It is also critical that voter registration and our elections are administered competently. In 2020, when Arizona will again be a battleground state and President Trump will stand for re-election, it will be essential that the person leading our elections is a Republican who is up to the job.

I intend for these debates to focus on the issues and our different backgrounds and capabilities. I believe they will allow the attendees to decide which candidate is truly best for the job. I look forward to beginning these debates in the near future.
