Activist Randy Miller: In response to John McCain’s one sided, self-serving
remarks in the 6-9-18-Briefs. McCain says Russia invaded Ukraine and annexed Crimea and gave no supporting evidence for his argument, he just wants us to believe him. First, Russia is protecting its border with Ukraine and the Russian citizens that live in the Donbass region that are constantly being assaulted by Ukrainian forces supported by leadership in Kiev, that the U.S. funds and supports. Mentions nothing about the massacre and ongoing threats to Russians in Odessa, Ukraine, after the Coup in Kiev. These attacks on Russians are ongoing today.
The 2004, U.S. funded Orange Revolution failed to put in office Yushchenko, our governments pick. Today, the leadership in Kiev is a direct result of U.S. interference through our State Department under Obama, in 2013 and 14. This resulted in the removal of the sitting president, Yanukovych, and the death of 88 people. Yanukovych preferred the support from Russia because it provided for the needs the Ukrainian people better than the offer of the E.U. The uprising was all orchestrated by Victoria Nuland of the State Department and our ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt. Isn’t it interesting that McCain was in Kiev that same time Victoria Nuland was in February 2014?
Additionally, these players pushed out the E.U. in favor or their own interest, securing Ukraine’s newly discovered oil and gas reserves in western Ukraine for U.S development. The U.S. and the E.U. deliberately rejected a proposal of a tri-lateral agreement from Putin designed to stabilize the region and provide the needs of Ukraine’s people for oil and gas at very affordable prices. All Russia’s oil and gas supplied to E.U. countries are piped through Ukraine. After our Coup De Ta, our state department hand-picked those we wanted to run the country. Oleh Tyalnybok, leader of the SVOBODA Party, the nation’s Nazi’s party; Vitaly Klitchko, Ukraine’s former professional boxer turned politician, and Arseniy Yatsenyuk, an economist and lawyer, as the Prime Minister. Obviously, the U.S. and E.U. could count on Tyalnybok to hate Russia, as a Ukrainian nationalist.
As far as Crimea goes, it wasn’t long after the U.S. sponsored Coup, that May of 2014, the citizens VOTED by referendum to become a union with Russia! So, John McCain clearly wants only one side of the story to be presented to us.
Everything I said is verifiable on the internet and on YouTube. Some people will say you can’t believe everything you get there, but I say a smart person can find crucial information. During my visits in Russia, I’ve talked to many Russian citizens, not members of government, who lived in Ukraine or have relatives there. Believe what you want but base your beliefs on something other than what our government members like McCain, feeds you.

CANDIDATE COMMENTARY

Frank Riggs, Candidate for Supt. of Public Instruction: Over 100 people a day commit suicide in America. As a police officer, I had to investigate suicides and inform the survivors. Making death notifications to parents and immediate family members is one of the hardest things a cop has to do. I'm especially concerned about the rising teen suicide rate. An alarming new study by Vanderbilt University, published last month in the academic journal, Pediatrics, reports a doubling from 2008-2015 of school-age children hospitalized for suicidal thoughts or attempts. More than half were adolescents between the ages of 15-17, followed by those between the ages of 12-14 (37%), and 5-11 (nearly 13%). The study also found two-thirds of children hospitalized for thinking about or trying to kill themselves were girls. All told, suicide takes more lives of our youth than automobile accidents and is the second leading cause of death between the ages of 10-24, after unintentional injuries, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
This is a silent crisis which adults - including school officials - must recognize and address. The Vanderbilt Study found suicidal thoughts and attempts peak in the fall and spring when many students face academic-related stresses. "School angst" and the pressure to get good grades and perform well on tests and college entrance exams is real. Another contributing factor to teen suicide is the increased and incessant use of electronic devices and social media (including computer and video games), as are sleep deprivation during the school year and substance abuse.
As with all societal challenges it starts in the home with the family. Parents must form and foster a sense of self-worth in their children. Educators have a role to play, too. Great teachers guide, encourage and inspire. They help students overcome challenges, discover their passions and build self-esteem. Parents, teachers, principals and counselors are partners in a child's education. That also means monitoring the behavioral health of students and intervening immediately with any child showing signs of distress or in crisis. More information and resources here:
