Upon Seeing Yesterday's StatementAZ Democrats And The American Flag, by AZGOP Chairman Jonathan Lines  and the related AZ Republic article about the AZGOP donating a U.S. flag, flagpole, and installation to the Arizona Democratic Party, LD24 PC Tristan Manos observes: "It's remarkably ironic — to the point of being bizarre — how this AZGOP administration makes something like that a ‘priority,’ especially when the U.S. flag standing on AZGOP's own property goes dark when the sun goes down. As per U.S. Flag Code, ‘It is the universal custom to display the flag only from sunrise to sunset on buildings and on stationary flagstaffs in the open. However, when a patriotic effect is desired, the flag may be displayed 24 hours a day if properly illuminated during the hours of darkness.’”

“Please excuse me for being a strong believer in ‘1st Things 1st,’ especially as it goes for running an organization. If the present AZGOP administration sees prioritizing (as Lines says in his statement) [being] ‘always happy to work with the other side of the aisle when it comes to showing our American Spirit’ before getting the AZGOP's  U.S. flag right, one may wonder, are the AZGOP's priorities about 1st Things 1st, or what?’”

I'm calling on any patriotic, interested, and motivated AZ Republicans (PCs especially) to join me in getting the U.S. flag standing outside AZGOP HQ "properly illuminated during the hours of darkness." Of course, it's AZGOP property, so we'll work with the AZGOP, as appropriate. Then again, if the AZGOP somehow "sees the light" to make this the high priority it really is, maybe the AZGOP will get the flag lit before we get to it? Before waiting around for the AZGOP to act on its own, if and whenever that may be, let's plan to get the flag lit up ASAP. If you're "in," please contact me. Thank you. Contact: tristanmanos2@gmail.comEditor’s Note: Former employees tells Briefs there was a solar light at AZGOP flag pole that required occasional battery changes. Has anyone checked the battery? - ft

Senate Majority Leader, Mitch Mcconnell, R-KY, told a Rotary Club gathering that: “Our new president, of course, has not been in this line of work before, I think he had excessive expectations about how quickly things happen in the democratic process.” I submit that it’s to President Trump’s credit to not have been a carskunk mcconnelleer fraud, err, I mean career politician. This gives President Trump the unique perspective of actually knowing how to accomplish things, ahead of schedule and under budget. What McConnell was really saying in thinly veiled nuances was that President Trump doesn’t know what he is doing and that President Trump isn’t qualified for the position he holds because he’s never been a politician and he isn’t one of “them.” See full article is mitch mcconnell a skunk, rotten, or a rotten skunk?

Would love taking it. I would like going to DC with F.A.I.R. with an armful of your stories to make the point that AZ does NOT want to be a sanctuary state. Deadline is August 31. The Arizona Corporation Commission ordered Arizona Public Service Company (APS) to evaluate forest bioenergy as part of its resource portfolio. The topic was introduced during Tuesday’s APS rate application proceedings by Commissioner Boyd W. Dunn.“Arizona has a long history that clearly shows the devastating impact of wildfires,” said Dunn. “Forest bioenergy can serve an important role in maintaining Arizona’s forests, woodlands, and watersheds while providing a viable renewable energy source.” APS representatives agreed to conduct a 90-day study and report back to the Commission.  The report will include an examination of at least three scenarios for bioenergy that look at low, medium, and high use. Forest bioenergy is becoming increasingly important in Arizona and nationwide as a carbon-neutral, renewable source. The 2017 spending bill directs the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Environmental Protection Agency to develop clear, consistent, and simple federal policies regarding forest bioenergy. Commissioner Andy Tobin supported Dunn’s efforts and was quick to point out how critical it is to explore this topic further. “Two of the biggest infrastructure and safety issues facing Arizona are water and fire,” said Chairman Tom Forese. “The work being done by the Commission today is an elegant solution to these challenges. I am proud of the work that is being done here to help move the needle for developing these resources.” A separate docket has been opened which will continue to explore market development opportunities.  The Commission will also hold workshops at a later date. The docket number is E-00000Q-17-0138. Go to http://www.azcc.gov and enter the number in eDocket.
