REPUBLICAN BRIEFS
LD17 reports, The Proxy sent out with the (Maricopa County Republican Committee Jan 13 meeting) Call Letter was INVALID because it omitted mention that a proxy carrier MUST be from the same voting precinct as the person for whom the proxy is carried.” CLICK HERE for the official Jan 13 Mandatory Maricopa County Republican proxy form. Chairman Bert Moll has confirmed the county will accept the proxy form sent out with recent emails even though the mandatory meeting is referenced as a meeting of the Maricopa County GOP.
Isn’t It Amazing that precinct committeemen can’t get an e-mail list of their LD PCs, while PACs manage to send out professionally composed “member-at-large candidate flyers” to PCs throughout Maricopa County??? - ft
Canceled:The Jan 9 Arizona Republican Assembly sponsored PC Day at the Capitol has been canceled due to heavy rain forecast and a Jan 9 morning mandatory legislative meeting. A reschedule date has been NOT been announced.
Governor Doug Ducey delivered his 2018 State of the State address yesterday afternoon at the Arizona Capitol.
US Senate candidate Dr Kelli Ward attended opening day session at the State Senate in Phoenix yesterday.
According to the Maricopa County Treasurer Royce Flora’s office, this statement was on the Treasurer’s website last week and the public should be made aware of the positive change. “Property tax collected by the County Treasurer is invested and schools receive additional money from portfolio earnings. The average earnings for the previous five years is about $16 million per year. Because of federal policy changes initiated by the Trump administration, earnings are expected to exceed $60 million for FY 2018. Please see the Treasurer’s website for ‘Understanding your taxes’ and ‘Tax Guide’ for more information.”

Supt of Public Instruction Frank Riggs regarding Francine Romesburg 01_08_18 Briefs statement.: Mrs. Francine Romesburg told me the Sept Grassroots Tea Party meeting started at 6pm and I arrived promptly after traveling some distance in evening commute traffic. There were four people present at 6:30pm including Mrs. Romeburg and her husband. They weren't ready to start the meeting and gave me no explanation or apology. When I left at 6:50 the meeting still had not started and Ms. Fisher had not arrived. This is completely fabricated by Mrs. Romesburg who is supporting another candidate in the SPI race. It's certainly her right to support another candidate but that doesn't excuse her intentional rudeness to me or the inconvenience she caused me when I could have been using my time productively.
Pinal County State Committeeman Barbara Manning - No Surprise, Business As Usual: With the assistance of the Bylaws Committee “business as usual” is keeping State Committeemen in the dark. The bylaws committee stifled my proposed amendments which would have enhanced transparency and solved problems within AZGOP which led to the attempt to remove the Chairman Lines. How demanding of me to submit an amendment requiring periodic financial reports to be emailed to all state committeemen. How absurd of me to suggest that the minutes of all Executive Committee meetings be sent to all state committeemen.
Realizing that the actions of the Bylaws Committee to stifle proposed amendments is illegitimate I forwarded my proposed amendments to AZGOP Secretary to be included in the call to the meeting for your review. These are posted on www.SpeakUpSaveAmerica It is time for the membership to require AZGOP leadership to abide by its own bylaws which state that anyone can submit a proposed bylaw amendment. The AZGOP Bylaws do not require the approval of the Bylaws Committee. The membership must challenge the hijacked power of the Bylaws Committee. State Committeemen at the January Mandatory meeting have no recourse but to table all bylaw amendments put forth illegitimately by the Bylaws Committee- in other words prevent a vote at all costs. Force AZGOP leadership to allow all proposed amendments to be voted on by the membership in the future.AZGOP bylaws do NOT permit amendments by a bylaws committee. To vote would be to confer credibility on illegitimate actions.
Former LD18 Chair Jennifer Szatkowski: I was not on the bylaws committee, ever. LD 18, when I was chairman, appointed Jeni White. The new chairman, Ed Pellegrino, can answer any further questions. Editor’s note: Szatkowski’s name has been removed from the list in the 1-8-18-Briefs. posting
Fountain Hills AZ Tea Party Chair Richard Rutkowski: Add my appreciation for all of your work on the Briefs! contact@fhteaparty.us or www.fhteaparty.us

Gina Swoboda, Election Integrity: The Maricopa County Recorder has presented a draft of his election plan for the CD8 Special Election to fill Rep. Trent Franks seat to the County Board of Supervisors. There will be a public meeting to hear comments from voters in CD8, please see the Eventbrite link below. There will also be an online comment form, that link is not yet available. I will provide it as soon as it is up. Please be aware that although we have ensured poll workers WILL be checking photo ID for this election, there is still no solid confirmation that machines to tabulate Election Day ballots will be provided at all precincts. I continue to push for that for ALL our precinct polling places. In addition, our precinct polling places are in effect for this election, but not all will be opened, and several Vote Center locations are being planned. Prior to the election I will make sure Frosty has a list of open precinct polls to make sure we are able to Get Out the Vote!! The Maricopa County Elections Department will be having a public meeting regarding the polling places for the CD8 Special Election. The purpose is to gather public comments on the proposed polling places. The meeting is between 5-7 pm., Thur., Jan 11 in the Surprise City Hall, Council Overflow Room (16000 N Civic Center Plaza, Surprise, AZ 85374)RSVP: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/public-meeting-on-polling-places-cd8-special-election-tickets-41967118782 This is an open meeting designed to give the residents of AZ-Congressional District 8 the opportunity to submit public comments and ask questions about the polling places available for the upcoming special election.
· There will be no formal presentation. The voting site maps will be available to look at, election staff will be on hand to answer questions, and there will be public comment cards available to fill out. Space is limited in the room.
· If you are unable to attend, there will be a public comment form available on the Maricopa County Recorder's website. A link will be made available this week. Public comment will close midnight on Monday, January 15th, 2018.
Maricopa County Treasurer Royce Flora: “Schools do not pay property tax. If values go down, districts increase the tax rate to match the levy. The levy is the source of revenue to fund the budgets of each school district after other revenues are determined. The school district budget is controlled by statute. Property tax collected by the County Treasurer is invested and schools receive additional money from portfolio earnings. The average earnings for the previous five years is about $16 million per year. Because of federal policy changes initiated by the Trump administration, earnings are expected to exceed $60 million for FY 2018. Please see the Treasurers website for ‘Understanding your taxes’ and ‘Tax Guide’ for more information.”
LaPaz County Chr Russell Sias - We Are Being Duped #9: Frosty, thanks for posting the list of the illegally formed bylaws committee. I probably shouldn’t have been on it, as Bylaws Committee Chairman Kathy Petsas has refused my admittance to the committee. According to Petsas, she denied me access because I hadn’t signed the confidentially agreement. Who ever heard of a bylaws committee that one had to sign such an agreement? What has this party come to? I have since learned that other members were allowed onto the committee when they didn’t sign the agreement either. Which begs the question, why was I singled out? Apparently, one must agree with Petsas, or risk getting kicked off the committee! No matter, for it’s an illegally formed committee in the first place. It’s just one more instance of the cabal running OUR party anyway they want, in spite of existing bylaws. In this case, the pertinent bylaw reads: “B. Method of Amending Bylaws- An amendment to these bylaws may be proposed at any meeting called in accordance with these bylaws. A copy of the proposed amendment together with a statement explaining the purpose to be achieved and the reasons in support thereof shall be mailed to each member by the secretary with the notice of call for that meeting. A two-thirds vote of the members present in person or by proxy shall be necessary to pass any motion to amend.”
Our bylaws makes no suggestion of forming a bylaws committee. The process is clearly spelled out. One must assume a couple of things. The cabal decided, for reasons unknown, that they didn’t care to follow our existing bylaws, so they established an independent process. Second, when thinking about the confidentially and secrecy that was required, even within the committee itself limiting communication among its members, that something nefarious was planned. Third, following the cabal’s apparent plan, I wouldn’t be surprised that at Mandatory Jan 27 meeting, we get asked to accept the fake bylaws committee report, WITHOUT the appropriate review, and in total. Accept the report, with a 50% vote no less, and presto, our bylaws will have changed. I mean, considering that they don’t follow existing bylaws anyway, why not? It’s for this reason, I’ve submitted a complete new set of bylaws, restoring control of our party back to our members. Whether they get considered at our meeting or not remains to be seen. You can view them at: https://www.speakupsaveamerica.com/sias-vs-current.html

ELECTED OFFICIAL COMMENTS
Congressman Martha McSally: Seven years ago yesterday, Congresswoman Gabby Giffords was meeting with her constituents when a gunman opened fire – killing six people and injuring 13 more. Today, I led the House of Representatives in a moment of silence honoring the victims of the January 8, 2011 shooting in Tucson. Click HERE or above to watch the moment of silence. Last year when I led this moment of silence, many representatives could only imagine being the target of a gunman. This year, even more members of Congress have lived that reality. Majority Whip Steve Scalise narrowly escaped with his life, thanks to the quick action of brave Capitol police. Hateful violence against elected officials is not an attack on any particular individual. It isn’t an attack on a party. It is an attack on our representative government and the ideals that underpin our democracy. But I believe our nation can chart a new course. Where there has been division, there can be unity. Where there has been hatred, there can be understanding. Where there has been vitriol, there can be civil discourse. In the aftermath of the 2011 shooting, Tucson united to support the grieving, honor the victims, and commend our first responders. Yesterday morning my hometown dedicated the January 8 Memorial in downtown Tucson. We will always remember those we lost: Christina Taylor Green, Dorothy Morris, Judge John Roll, Phyllis Schneck, Dorwan Stoddard andCongressional staffer Gabriel "Gabe" Zimmerman
